Principal's Report

From the Principal

Last Thursday evening we held our Year 12 Valedictory Dinner, where we formally acknowledged the end of 13 years of schooling for these students.  It was a wonderful night of shared celebration with students, parents and teachers.  We also held a special P-12 assembly last Wednesday, which included our traditional send-off from our Preps., with a special song and presentation for the Year 12 students.

Year 12 students began their exams on Wednesday and they will continue for the next couple of weeks.  Year 10 and 11 exams begin on Thursday 17th November.  This is a very important time for all of these students who should be using their time wisely in preparation for their exams to ensure that they can achieve their best.

This is a very busy time for staff in terms of planning for next year.  To assist us with our planning, we would appreciate parents letting us know as soon as possible if their children will not be attending Carwatha next year.  Also, if you wish to enrol new students, including Preps., this needs to be done as soon as possible.

In the next few weeks information will be sent home regarding booklists, essential items and voluntary levies for 2017.  Information will also be provided about second hand book sales.  This year second hand books will be able to be sold or bought online through an external provider.  Details will be provided in the next newsletter.  Please ensure that you read all of the information that comes home and start planning early to ensure that your son or daughter begins next year fully equipped and ready to learn.

Primary Art

Grade 6F have been learning about the work of Alberto Giacometti.

Alberto was a Swiss sculptor. He created bronze animal and human figures stretched vertically.

The students learnt about gesture drawing and created gesture sketches of each other. They chose one of those drawings to create a sculpture out of wire, masking tape and metallic paint. The students were encouraged to be creative with their work.

Mad On Music

The exam date for Mad On Music exams at Carwatha College P-12 has been changed and will now be held on:

TUESDAY, 29th NOVEMBER

This change has been recorded on your child’s signature chart.

Please note all students in Grades 2-6 will receive an exam slip which states the level they will be sitting and exam time. In regard to preparation for the exam, all students should by now have received an exam syllabus which outlines all requirements. Good luck!

Year 10 Guest speakers

Congratulations to the Year 10 students who participated in the guest presentation last week by the “Fashionista Sisters”.  Leane and Lissa came to speak with the Year 10’s about the value of first impressions - which is something students need to be well aware of when preparing for their upcoming work experience.  After this session student successfully completed their [email protected] modules.

Reminder if you have not returned your work experience paperwork, you must do so as a matter of URGENCY!

Go For IT

This week we have Jacinta, Madeleine, Katrina and Shania from Year 10 participating in the Tata Consultancy work experience program. This has been a great opportunity for the girls to develop their networking skills and establish a good understanding of the different roles available to them in Information Technology and an understanding of the opportunities for women in this industry. The girls need to be congratulated for their willingness to seize this experience.
