Student-led Conferences

Thank you to all the parents who came along to Student-led Conferences to share in their children's learning and goal setting.  Conferences are such a wonderful way for children to give you an understanding of what they are learning at school. Please don't feel that you have to wait for conferences to share in your child's learning - you can ask them to share their learning at any time.

Mufti and Soft Toy Day

On Friday we held a very successful mufti and soft toy day at school. There was a huge range of clothing styles and soft toys that ranged from small to massive and everything in-between.

The children raised about $60.

Jobs Around School

A big thank you to those people who have already volunteered to help us. I am putting the advertisement in again this week in case anyone didn't see it or forgot to hand in their names.

Friday Lunches

So far our Friday lunches seem to be quite successful. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact Rachael on [email protected]

School Disco

There will be a school disco on Thursday 28 March from 6- 8 pm.

Cost:   $5 per child (which includes a goodie bag)

Theme:   Come as something that begins with the letter R.

Sausages, lollies and other goodies will be available to buy.

School Donation

Thank you to all our families who have paid all or part of the school donation. Little schools like ours depend on this contribution from families.

Remember that we are happy for to pay it off as you are able: weekly, fortnightly, monthly, termly or a lump sum. if you are unable to pay the full amount of $280 per year, I would encourage you to pay what you are able.

Safe riding with Constable Nicholas

Constable Nicholas is coming in to school on Wednesday 20 March to do a practical workshop on keeping safe while riding bicycles and scooters.

If your child rides a scooter or bicycle to school or in the neighbourhood, please send them to school with their bicycle or scooter on this day.

Sunhats

Sunhats are now in stock and are available to buy from the office for $10.  I will be collecting all the hats that we loaned to the children and washing them.

Uniform

Some uniform is now in stock. Please contact Vicki if you think you will need uniform as there is a three week turn around time on orders.

Just a reminder that children need to wear plain black shorts, pants or skorts.

Swimming Carnival

On Friday 22 March we are holding our annual swimming carnival. All children take part - there are novelty activities as well as more competitive races. The action starts at about 1.15pm. We would love a big crowd of parents and grandparents to cheer everyone on.

50 Year Celebration

The FORS group has started planning 50 year celebrations and some great fundraising events. The more people who offer to help, the more successful we will be. Please either speak to me or come along to one of the FORS meetings.

Board of Trustees Election

In May all schools in New Zealand hold elections to choose a school board to govern the school. The only qualification that you need is a passion for and belief in our school. The current board members are happy to talk to you about their experiences and you are very welcome to come along and watch a meeting to see whether this would for you.

Jobs around the school

Jobs around the school

A number of parents have said that are happy to do jobs around the school or take on responsibilities. If any of these sound like you, please contact me on [email protected] We are a small staff who are part of a strong community. Your help is always appreciated.

Bookroom Organiser

We need someone (or a couple of someones)  who is able to come into school every 3 - 4 weeks and put books away in the bookroom, stamp, sticker and number new books, and add them to our stocktake list. There might also be some repair of books or making the decision to throw out some much loved books.

Yummy Apple Sticker Co-Ordinator

We are looking for someone to promote the collection of Yummy Stickers, to count them and then return them in September. The school is given PE equipment based on the number of stickers per child that we collect.

Bookroom Stocktake

Do you like counting? Our bookroom desparately needs a stocktake. We need to know how many books we have and what books we need to buy.

Painter

As part of our cyclical maintenance, we need to paint the admin area. This is the area that gives people their first impression of the school, so we are keen to have it looking fresh and inviting.

Builder/Handyman

We have some weatherboards that need reattaching and painting...

Garden Club Co-ordinator

For some years we ran a successful garden club at school which we would love to revitalise. We have beautiful vegetable gardens that we would like to populate so that the children can grow and eat their own vegetables.

I envisage that this job would be run by more than one person during lunchtime from 12.45 to 1.30. Initially it would be every week, but then as needed.

Artist/Graphic Designer

We are looking for someone to work with our teachers and students to design and create beautiful, colourful, enduring art work of a high standard to go on our new fence. There are some constraints, but let me know if you feel inspired.

Waterblasting

There are many areas that need waterblasting.
