Summer Holidays are Coming!

Holidays are coming... time to plan for Vacation Care!

With Term 4 drawing to a close, it's important to start planning some fun over the holiday period whilst mums and dads are working.

Officer campus provides a full Vacation Care program that runs during the Summer holidays. Delivered by Miss Kellie and her team, there are five weeks full of activities planned. There's an excursion to Cranbourne Gardens, Crazy Hair Day, Candle Making, Scavenger Hunt, Master Chef Cooking Day, Games days, Sports days and more.

Who can take part in the program?

Vacation Care is open to all primary students at Heritage College. Primary aged children who are not currently students of Heritage College are welcome to attend, however, they need to complete a registration form prior to attending the program.

Choose the days that work for you.

You can choose the whole program, or just choose the days that work for you. Simply notify the Vacation Care team when you register.

It's affordable.

With subsidies of between 60-85% available for most families, Vacation Care is an affordable option at between $13-$34 per day (depending on subsidy rates available to each family from CCS).

How do I register?

Simply pick up a registration form available at reception, complete and return. Our friendly Vacation Care Team members will be in touch to discuss further.

Year 3MC News

Science Fun in the Classroom

This term, Year 3MC has been melting and freezing items to see how solids turn into liquids and that process can be reversed. Mwakwe learned that “A hairdryer melted the ice quickly as it is plugged into electricity and the heat was more direct.” Shanaei observed that “The chocolate chips melted the fastest in the sun as they were the smallest in area.” The class enjoyed making ice cream in the classroom by placing them between bags of salt and ice. We then had Hands-on Science come in and run experiments on heat.

Maths investigation that helped raise money

Over the last couple of weeks, Year 3MC have been learning about tendering money and making a budget. Rather than use fake money in the classroom to get some hands-on experience, we decided to sell Zooper Doopers. Students made up a budget with an estimate of income, expenses and profits. They then designed posters and went to each room to advertise. We had beautiful weather last Wednesday when students sold the Zooper Doopers. Their efforts raised $110 towards Narre Warren breakfast club. Thank you to those who sent money to school to help support Year 3MC’s learning.

Healesville Sanctuary Excursion

On Monday, 2nd December, Year 1/2 BV spent the day at Healesville Sanctuary. Although the weather was cold and wet this did not stop us. Our excitement and energy was high as we explored the exhibits and learned lots of new facts about the animals.

The highlight of the trip were the two wild wombats that ran around us while we were eating lunch. It was very exciting, especially when all of the park rangers were rushing around us trying to find them.
