I was so very proud of the message I received on Wednesday from a teacher at Swan Hill Primary School, it read…
I am from Swan Hill Primary School and I ran the Regional Softball on Friday. Your school had wonderful kids who were fantastic sports. I would also like to thank your P.E. Teacher and Grade 6 Teacher who came along. They were fantastic role models for the children and other teachers. They helped umpire, encouraged good sportsmanship and in general were terrific to have on the day. Please pass on my thanks.
Thank you so much to the students who undoubtedly represented KPS so well as sports people and outstanding individuals and to Mr Romer and Mr Ellery who as they do every day at our school set high expectations and act as terrific role models.
KPS and our neighbours OLR continue to press the Macedon Ranges Shire Council on the need for an additional school crossing on Victoria St to ensure the safety of our children using this route to and from school. Below is an update from the Engineering and Projects division of the council.
Council have completed a concept design and costing for the installation of a new zebra pedestrian crossing in Victoria Street. This road safety treatment will provide full priority protection for pedestrians at this location and service the adjoining schools and sports and aquatic facility. The cost estimate for this work is $81,000.
Council has submitted a grant application under the TAC Road Safety Grants Scheme to secure funding for the delivery of this project. This grants program is still under review by the TAC and based on previous rounds it is expected that results of the submission should be known by early 2019.
Council will continue to explore similar funding streams should they become available in the meantime.
