From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers, Konnichiwa!

Grange PS State winners of Mathematics challenge

For the last 25 years the Primary Mathematics Association (PMA) for SA has run a mathematics challenge that is open to all preschool and primary school aged students. Individual, groups and whole classes from all sites (State and Independent) are eligible to apply.

This year three Grange PS whole class groups applied and all won State awards.

These were for Room 2 (Foundation), Room 30 (Year 1) and Room 32 (Year 6). The awards ceremony was held last Friday night and the students were presented with their awards by the Minister for Education, the Honourable John Gardner. About 1000 people attended the event. Thank you to our teachers Sarah Pendrey and Susan Wilson, Mathematics coach, Maureen Hegarty who joined some families and students from these classes and myself for the ceremony.

Some photos of the event are attached. Fantastic Mathematics learning!

Regards, Grant

Grange School Colour Fun-Run 22nd November 2019

What a fantastic effort! We have raised over $20,000 so far to improve our play spaces on the oval. We will advise final figures once confirmed. Students now need to select their prizes online. Fundraising and prize selection will close at midnight on Wednesday, 13th November 2019.  There will be a Sausage Sizzle for lunch on the day - please get you orders in through QKR.  There will be no other lunch items available.
Thank you to everyone for your amazing effort and support,

Grange PS Fundraising Committee

Congratulations Jesse

On Friday, 25th October 2019 at the Woodville Town Hall, Jesse was awarded the Josiah Mitton award for the best “all round” student at Grange Primary School. Not only does Jesse achieve exceptional grades, he always shows the school values and is a role model for all other students in the school. Congratulations Jesse, a worthy recipient of the Josiah Mitton award.

Teacher

Room 24 and 25

This term Room 24 and 25 are learning about different countries around the world. Each week we are cooking food from these countries. Here we are making sushi!

Congratulations Archer

Congratulations goes to Archer from Room 33 who made the Western SAPSASA Cricket team. As a year 6 student this is a huge achievement and one he should be very proud of after a great start to the season with Grange CC. Well done Archer.

Girls Cricket

This group of great girls embarked on an adventure in February 2019. For the second year running we entered a girls knockout cricket team and this year we made the semi finals of the large primary schools competition. After defeating Colonel Light Gardens PS and Marymount College along the way we faced Stirling East PS for a place in the State Final. Unfortunately we went down by 2 runs in what was a thrilling match. Grange PS 3/47 defeated by Stirling East PS 8/49. As a school we couldn't be more proud of the progress of these 12 individuals.

SAPSASA Tennis

Well done to Tess Rankin, Phoebe Mansfield, Laksmon Roka and Lachlan Shepherd who were selected to play in the Western SAPSASA Tennis team. A very modest bunch who definitely deserve the recognition and credit that comes their way as a result of their selection. A tough week of competition but one that has been spent with a lovely group of students from the Western suburbs.

Kind Regards,

Nick Warren

Senior Leader

F-2 Swimming Week

Room 4 have been having lots of fun learning how to swim. With our Room 16 CAT Buddies we created an artwork of us swimming. We drew ourselves swimming, washed over our pictures to create a water background and used our amazing maths skills to rule and cut mosaic squares to create our pool tiles. We hope you love our work as much as we do!

Music: Count Us In

Music: Count Us In (MCUI) is Australia’s biggest school initiative. On Thursday 7 November at 12pm 700,000 students, and 10,000 teachers from 3,500 schools across the nation sang the song “We Are”.

Students at Grange PS met in Wittunga Hall to sing the song “We Are” at 12pm in a livestream from the main event in Surfers Paradise. Using Auslan signing, our students sang “We Are” with  great excitement.

Music: Count Us In exists to advocate for improved access to music education for all students across Australia. It brings together teachers, parents, students and the broader music community together in celebration of music and to champion music education.

Music: Count Us In is the education program of Music Australia, supported by the Australian Government and funded through the Department of Education and Training.
