Principal's Message

Our very first Art Show

I would like to extend my congratulations to Mrs Kakavoules and all our students for the amazing hard work that went into preparing and presenting this year’s event. It has been a culmination of two terms worth of hard work. The standard of the Art on show was just incredible and a credit to Mrs Kakavoules and her very special helper Miss Armenia, a pre-service teacher who gave up two days of her own time during Term 2 to ensure the large canvases on display were completed in time.

Yes, I know they were incredible and there was a lot of interest from our community who wanted to purchase them. They will be on permanent display in our main foyer. I think you will agree with me that they will add a colourful “burst” for parents and visitors.

I would like to formally acknowledge the Funnell family for donating the pin boards for the art show. They kindly donated them to the school for future events. THANK YOU!

It goes without saying that our Student Leaders,  Eva and Nikola, were both outstanding in ensuring the art work was pinned, arranged and sorted into classes for teachers. We are very fortunate that our 2017 Leaders showed incredible initiative, responsibility and organisation to support this event. Well done to you both!

Student’s second pieces can now be purchased via QKR or at the office and will be distributed to students across this week.

Thank you to all parents and friends who supported this event, currently we have raised $500.00 that is going towards a new kiln, to be installed in Term 4.   A fantastic result and a wonderful addition to enhance our Art program!

Grand Final Winners

It is with great pride that I announce to our community that our Volley Ball team won the district grand final.  Well done to Mrs Kelly for coaching them this year and providing students with important skills, confidence and persistence to be victorious!  A great outcome for the students involved and for our school.

Departmental Surveys

Over the course of this school year students, parents and teachers will be asked to provide feedback via an anonymous online survey. Students in Years 4-6 completed the survey in Term 2 and this week we will be asking parents to complete the survey and later on in Term 3, Teachers will have to complete the survey. The results are collated by an external group called ORIMA, who then provide the data to the Department of Education, who forward on the results in specific reports back to the school.

Schools use this data to inform programs, initiatives, facilities and present this data to the community, analyse it at school council and through staff meetings with the teachers. Tonight I will be presenting our student data in our meeting. I would also like to share this data with you. It is only showing our specific school data as the department has not yet forwarded the comparison to the state or like schools. I have had a number of conversations with other schools and it seems that our data is exceptionally good! As a community we have worked hard to turn our school around and we continue to bring about change and implement initiative to make our school even better. But here is a snippet for you to view our results and I am happy to discuss the data further with anyone interested.

Around the School

We want our Parents to tell us what they think

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents at each school.

It is designed to assist our school in gaining an understanding of parents’ perception of school climate, student engagement and relationships with our parent community. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
The survey will be conducted online by ORIMA Research Pty Ltd and only takes 15 minutes to complete. The survey can be accessed via desktop computer, laptop, tablet or mobile at any convenient time within the fieldwork period from Monday 7th August to Sunday 27th August.

Approximately 30% per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous.

The parents that have been randomly selected to participate in the survey, will be sent an email on Monday 7th August.

The survey results will be reported back to our school at the end of September.

Moorabbin Primary TERRIFIC Fun Fair

Planning for the Moorabbin Primary Terrific Fun Fair 2018 is well under way and is shaping up to be a great day with plenty of local community groups already on board to support us in our fundraising efforts for our Outdoor Amenities Upgrade.

The Highett Youth Club, Cheltenham Scouts, Bricks for Kids and Rockabye Kids Party's are just a few who are generously giving their time to host free or gold coin donation activities on the day, with all funds raised going to the school.

There will be carnival rides and a golden ticket that allows 1 person and a friend to queue jump these rides all day so when the wristbands go on sale you have to be in it to win it!

As a school community there are many ways everyone can ensure the day is a success. Currently the Fete Team is in need of people who can assist in the organisation of;

Hair and Body Art

Food Stalls and Café

Stage and Entertainment

First Aid Tent

Competitions & Raffles

Silent Disco

The Silent Disco is coming!!!.....and its just not a disco without mirror balls and flashing lights so...........

If you have a disco ball, disco lights, fairy lights or anything that flashes and strobes could you please drop it off at the staff room by 3pm Wednesday 16th so we can decorate the hall for a truly spectacular event for the kids, extension cords would also be appreciated.

Please clearly label your items with your name and contact number.
