Welcome to the second week of Term 2.
Thank you to those parents who were able to participate in our 'Parent Chat' on Monday. I received some excellent feedback about what is working well for parents as well as a good discussion around new initiatives. We will schedule another chat for those who were unable to attend. Well done to all our students who participated in the School Cross Country on Monday. The students should feel very proud of the sportsmanship they displayed, supporting their peers and encouraging younger students. Thank you to the family members who were able to attend.
A big thank you to Miss Richards for her organisation in ensuring the event ran smoothly. Thank you also to all staff for their support and team work.

We welcomed Niki Manaveris to staff this term. Niki will be working in the Grade 5/6 area on a Thursday and Friday from 9am-1pm, as a Learning Support Officer. If you see Niki, please make her feel very welcome.
Please save the date of Thursday 12 September, when we will be holding St Peter's Primary School Art Show. This will be an occasion to celebrate the achievements of our students in Visual Art this year. We have now adopted a cycle of Art Show in an odd year (2019) and school concert in an even year (2020). Please save this date and look out for more information closer to the date.
Throughout the term, teachers at St. Peter's School plan many exciting experiences to support and deepen student learning. For some of these activities, we send information home for parents / guardians to read and sign for permission. We have adopted the CareMonkey system to make this process quick, easy and stress free for families as well as the teachers running the event. There are only a small number of families not connected to CareMonkey; we have the same expectation for their forms to be returned promptly.
For all families at St. Peter's School: Please ensure when you receive a CareMonkey notification that you read and respond to this as soon as possible. In recent weeks our office staff have had to telephone parents, who had not responded for permission requests for excursions, to enable students to attend on the day which created unnecessary and time consuming work. As a result, in future we will not be contacting anyone who has not responded on CareMonkey and your child will miss out on the event / excursion / activity with their classmates.
Have you seen Margaret or Bec in the office about enrolling your pre-schooler?
We are now taking enrolments for Foundation (Prep) next year so please make sure you pop into the office for a form.
At Easter, we celebrate the resurrection of the Lord, the triumph of life after death. It is the great season of hope. Catholic schools should be places of hope- Easter places! Let us pray that our school will be inspired by a view of life that is joyful and optimistic and that our own association might contribute to this.
Lord Jesus, fill us with the spirit of hope and joyful expectation.
You have shared your life with us and, if we allow it to happen, we can never be alone.
The future you have in store for us is beyond all human expectation.

Student belongings are to be labelled clearly so they can be returned to their rightful owner if misplaced. This includes all school clothing, hats, bags, lunch boxes, shoes and other items such as sports equipment ie. soccer / footballs etc.
Lost property items may be found in the wooden box outside the office in the hallway. Please check this regularly if your child has a missing item.

To our staff members and families who celebrate the Muslim holy month of Ramadan we wish them a blessed and peaceful sacred month.
Our School Website
Please do take the time to look at our school website. We try to keep it up to date with events on the community calendar and on our twitter feed. We also archive our newsletters for your reference. We are constantly trying to make it relevant for our school community and for visitors to the site. We have very recently added a film about Holy Week which features all of our school community. This film was made by Inatio who has his son Gabriel in Foundation (Prep). There was much excitement when he was filming it as he used a drone to get some of the footage. We are very grateful to Inatio for sharing his skills and time with us. You will find this film clip on our website. We hope to keep adding to these throughout the year. Please watch and enjoy seeing some of what we did as a school during Holy Week.
Our annual Mothers'/Grandmothers'/Aunties Day Breakfast will be on again on the morning of Friday 10th May. Our Gr 5/6 children will be playing school sports (not against another school as previously advertised) at 9.30am in our school grounds so hopefully families have the opportunity to watch some or all of the game after eating a delicious breakfast.
School Photos 2019
We had a wonderful experience yesterday having our photos taken by our new photography company. It was more like a contemporary photo shoot where we were all photographed in much more relaxed and friendly poses. We felt it was time for a change, and after feedback last year about our photos, we decided to trial this new style of photography. We are looking forward to seeing the results. When we do see the results we will seek your input about what you think about the new type of class and individual photos. We do appreciate that it is expensive, but at the same time a very special record of your child's school life, therefore we want to get it right.
Woolworths Earn & Learn is now on at your local store. From 1st May – 25th June a single sticker will be given to a customer with every $10 spent in a single transaction at Woolworths Supermarkets, Woolworths Metro and Woolworths Online. We are not necessarily promoting people having to shop at Woolworths, but if you do we’d appreciate your support. We were very fortunate to earn quite a substantial amount of points. With our points the school was able to redeem various items. Let’s stick together and make this one the biggest yet!

We are looking forward to our annual Mother's Day Breakfast on Friday 10th May
Mother's Day Breakfast will be held in the Hall at 7:30am concluding at 9am. A notice has been sent home soon showing menu items to select. An RSVP is required from every family.
Students who play an instrument are invited to showcase their talents by playing 1 or 2 songs at assembly each fortnight.
If your child is interested in participating please:
We welcome the opportunity for students to play to the whole school and it gives them a motivation to practice for a short performance. Our initial plan is to have instrumental music played as classes and parents arrive at assembly.
We look forward to having the opportunity to showcase the talents and hard work of our musical students.

The Year 7 enrolment process for Catholic secondary schools now takes place in the second half of the year for students currently in Grade 5. Please see our College website for full details on enrolments and to download an Application for Enrolment form. Alternatively, parents may obtain a complete Prospectus Pack from the College Reception or, are most welcome to attend one of our Open Mornings.
The College will hold five Open Mornings prior to the Year 7 2021 closing date. Open Mornings commence at 9:30am with an address by the Principal, Mr. Christopher Dalton. Family groups are then taken on a tour of the College and return for morning tea where further questions may be asked of staff members. The session concludes at approximately 11.00am. Dates for all 2019 Open Mornings are listed for your reference.
