Acting Principal's Report

Welcome Back!
 

Hello and welcome to a new year!! 2017 looks like another very rewarding and jam packed year for KPS. Our staff have been working hard to prepare an engaging learning program focused on meeting the individual needs of every student in our school.

Our Annual Implementation Plan is near completion. This document guides the key areas for improvement for our school each year. This year we will continue to focus on the areas of Excellence in Teaching and Learning, Professional Leadership and Positive Climate for Learning.

Hello to those new to our community.
 

We have many new families joining school community this year. It is an exciting time to those families who are just beginning with their first child in Foundation or have moved here from another school. I encourage you to become involved in our fantastic caring and vibrant learning community and wish you the very best.

 

Welcome to: Calheiros, Lansche, Linzer, Montalan, Nieuwesteeg, Pell, Penry, Robinson, Rosenwax, Rosmalen, West, Lai and Springett families. We also welcome the late 2016 enrolements to: Naylor, Hill, Bausch, Hanton, Abraham-Hanton, Pineiro and Bulmer families. 

 

And to our new staff for 2017:

Miss Shannen May 

Miss May has taught at KPS in 2016 in various roles. She will be teaching in Junior School.

Miss Erin Rennick

Miss Rennick  has taught in many schools in 2016. She will be teaching in Middle School.

Mr Craig Couper

 

Mr Couper is returning after a year’s leave. He will be teaching in Foundation and the Levelled Literacy Intervention program with middle school students.

 

School Structure

Our Foundation/Junior, Middle and Senior School teams have been working hard at planning and setting up the classrooms to give our students the best start to 2017.

All teams have made exciting changes to the layout and structure of each area so that all students have great learning opportunities. Area newsletters will go out soon with specific details.

Drop Off and Pick Up
 

It is important to remind all parents of our arrangements for drop off and pick up at each end of the school day.

Times

Students should be dropped at school no earlier than 8.45am and picked up from school before 3.45pm

We are unable to supervise students outside of these times. If a child remains at school after 3.45pm and parents can not be contacted, the child will be placed in Out of School Care with Camp Australia – at a possible expense to parents.

Car Parking

Drop off and pick up times are always busy periods in our car parks. At the front of the school) off Durham Rd) we ask that parents drive with care and remain aware of students crossing the road. At the rear of the school (off Catherine Crt) we ask that all drivers keep their speed below 10km/hr, that kiss and drop zone is not used for parking and that if you are using a parking space that you reverse park for the safety of everyone.

Information Night & BBQ
 

Information Night and BBQ will be on Tuesday 7th of February. There will be a FREE sausage sizzle available between 5.00pm to 6.30pm outside the hall. Thank you to those parents who have offered to help with the BBQ.

 

Information session times and other details are in the notice that was given out yesterday. This notice can also be accessed via the link in the newsletter.

 

Important information for your child will be distributed at the information sessions. Please do your best to attend if possible.

Parent/Teacher Interviews

Parent/Teacher Interviews will be on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th of February.

These interviews provide an opportunity for a one-on-one discussion with your child’s teacher, and allow you to share your knowledge of your child’s learning needs with their teacher and ask any specific questions you might have.  Interview times will be available between 3.30pm and 7.30pm each night.  More information about making bookings will be sent home early next week.

 

Playgroup and Bookaburra
 

A reminder that we host two playgroup sessions (Monday and Wednesday s from 9.15am) for pre-school children up to 4 years of age. We also run a Bookaburra (story reading) every Thursday at 9.15am. Both these programs are run from our Multi-Purpose room. These are great ways to get to know people and share some fun times with your child. These programs are open to any family from our local community.

Second Hand Uniform

Second hand uniform will be available for purchase from the office on Thursday afternoons from 3-3.45pm.

We welcome any donations of uniform that are in good condition to add to our dwindling supply of second hand uniform.

Subway

Please note that if you have ordered Subway and your child is absent on Friday, please organise to come and collect it from the office at 12.30pm. Unfortunately we are unable to cancel your order.
