Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's,

"Come Holy Spirit"

Congratulations to the Year Six students who made their Confirmation last Thursday and Friday evenings. The celebrations were lovely with Bishop Patrick, Father Joseph and Father Antony. Special thanks to the beautiful choir and Sister Mary who led them.

We wish the children who are making their Confirmation this week all the best.

Lightning Premiership

Yesterday, our senior students participated in the Lightning Premiership competition. Students played either Football, Newcombe, Soccer or Netball and the results were as follows;

  • A Team Netball were Runners-Up
  • B Team Netball came 5th
  • Our soccer team won 2 games and drew a third
  • Our AFL team nearly won a game
  • Team A Newcombe won 4 games and lost 1 game
  • Team B Newcombe won 3 games and lost 1 game

Congratulations to all those who participated.

Learning Conversations

Next week on Wednesday 7th August, Learning Conversations will take place. Learning Conversations involve the teacher, parent and student and are aimed at discussing each student's personal learning goals. These conversations complement the Semester One reports that you received at the end of Term One.

Please make sure you make a booking on CareMonkey on Wednesday this week to secure your interview time and don't forget school will be closed from 1:30pm on Wednesday 7th August. If you are unable to collect your child at this time, please contact the office as soon as possible.

Dental Nurse 12th August

A reminder that on Monday 12th August, the Dental Nurse will be visiting. The purpose of the visit is to provide an opportunity for your child to have a dental check-up. Children who have the check-up will take home recommendations required to ensure healthy teeth. You will be provided with information regarding the government's dental health scheme and how you can be eligible. Dental health is very important and I urge all parents, especially those whose children have not seen a dentist in the last 12months to take up this free offer!

Seasons For Growth

Seasons for Growth is an innovative grief and loss education program that uses the imagery of the seasons to illustrate the experience of grief. It aims to strengthen the social and emotional wellbeing of children who are dealing with significant life changes by:

  • exploring the impact of change and loss on every-day life

  • learning new ways to respond to these changes

Lyn Kelly, is a trained facilitator who will be available to facilitate this small group program. If you are interested in knowing more about this program and if it may be of benefit to your child please contact the office for more information to be sent to you.

Youth Wakaido Concert - coming soon!

Our Taiko drummers are now preparing to take part in the Wakaido concert that will take place on Sunday 8th September in Oakleigh. The concert involves primary schools throughout Victoria who learn Takio drumming. Our drummers from 3-6 have been invited to take part in this very exciting opportunity. Sensei Andrews is already very busy preparing the students. St Agatha's will also take part in this event and our schools will perform together!

Tickets are on sale now through the following link if you are interested in coming along to support St Therese's at the Wakaido concert. Ticket bookings: https://www.trybooking.com/BDWUZ

Senior Learning - Out of this World!

Congratulations to Sneha, one of our very talented senior students who has created this very informative website about the Solar System. What a great achievement, especially at this time when we remember the Moon landing that happened 50 years ago!

Check out her website here...
