Principal's Report

Sue Coull's Report

Dear students, families & friends,

This is my last report as Principal of Naranga School.
I have spent a lot of time in the past few weeks thinking about all the wonderful things that we get to do at Naranga. We have so many engaged, happy and positive students and families, and this is because of the fantastic hard-working, caring and experienced staff. Every teacher and education support person in our school is deeply committed to the educational and personal development of our students. We are all responsible for every student, and we know each of them very well.

I am so proud of the fantastic school community that we have here at Naranga. The Student Representative Council (SRC) has been very active in the past couple of years making sure that they have a say in what happens at their school. The SRC offers an opportunity for developing a sense of responsibility and becoming a role model for others as a student leader.

It has been a delight to observe the growth in confidence and skill this week as our students participate in their daily swimming lessons. The school received funding this year for every student to receive water safety and swimming lessons. This is vital for keeping our children safe and aware of the dangers around water.

I love that we acknowledge and value individual and group achievements across the school in so many ways. Today, at my last assembly, there will be even more opportunity to celebrate success, and I invite you to join us in our celebration assembly which starts at 1:30 pm - please come and join us and join in the fun!

After School Parking

Could all parents avoid parking on the nature strip on Alexander Crescent as there have been complaints from the neighbours.
Thank you for your understanding.

What's happening in S Dunn

Senior Dunn's Classroom

Photography

Students will become familiar with using a digital camera. The parts of the camera will be taught and taking pictures will involve weekly tuition in different techniques.

Travel Training

A Travel Education program for Middle and Senior Years students, Year 7 to 12, was student led. Students participated in the travel education program on a weekly basis to identify the needs of students working towards independent travel and road safety. Students planned and led the class to visit destinations within the city of Melbourne and surrounding area as well as their home suburbs. After the completion of their travel, students reported back through their class digital portfolios to explain their journey plans.

Inter School Sport

SSSSA Football News

Congratulations to the Senior students who played in the Naranga Football team for Inter School Sport in Term 3.   Jaycob R,  Curtis R,  Max W,  Jamie B,  Brett F,  Thomas R and Albin M.  With coaching from Patrick Binyon, they all improved a lot over the season and enjoyed the final Carnival Day in Week 8.

Ashlin Nelson was the only Naranga student to play in the SSSSA girls' Football team, which included students from all of the schools in our competition.  She did  a great job, and her team won the Carnival Day.

SSSSA Netball News

We had 2 mixed netball teams during the term, and 1 team for Carnival Day.  Congratulations to

Sarah H, Jade L,  Rebekah L,  Alyshia N,  Alex A,  Harry W,  Zane D,  Reuben W,  Mackayla M,  Oscar H, Len C,  Alex P and Jake D.

All players improved over the term, and there was a noticeable improvement by the last game on Carnival Day.  A special mention goes to Zane and Jade who were our leading goalers, and Harry and Alex A who showed remarkable defensive ability, particularly as the boys had not played netball before.
