Principal's News

It is difficult to believe we are only in Week Two, with our classrooms already abuzz with new learning in their inquiry topics, and our lunchtime clubs full steam into another term of fun and learning. Our Creative Writing Club visited two of our wonderful local early childhood centers to read their favorite storybooks.

The kinder kids were very excited to host our visit and our children really enjoyed the chance to read and to challenge and extend their leadership skills.

Bike Education & Bike Storage

Bike Education has continued for some of our grades and there is a sea of bikes in our yard. We have worked hard over the past few years to promote bike education and to encourage our students to use sustainable transport to get to school. Its great to see the huge number of bikes that are now being brought to school.

Over the next couple of weeks, changes will be made to our storage of bikes to accommodate the huge increase in numbers, with bikes beginning to be stored in the area adjacent to the POL office. Although this area is not currently undercover, our intention is to restore the covered atrium and provide bike racks along the sides of the area. This area will become our next focus of fundraising for our P & F and fundraising efforts this year.

Our Playgroup has started!

It was great to see the seven parents and their children attending our first playgroup session this week. Operating weekly on a Wednesday, the sessions will be guided by Anna, our Prep teacher and seek to support students with educational, structured activities that will support them in their transition into Prep. It's also a lovely opportunity for the children and parents to connect.

Playgroup is free and is open to all families in the local community.

Philip Swimming at the Victorian Titles

Congratulations to Philip in Year 6 for coming third in the state in Freestyle last week at the Victorian Swimming trials. Philip has worked incredibly hard in his training leading up to the event and we congratulate him on such a great, well deserved achievement.

Year 1-3 Art Club Begins Next Week

Briony (our Art Teacher) is starting an Art club at Trinity. the club will be open to Year 1-3 students and will begin next week. The goal is to give students who are passionate about Art the opportunity to engage and improve their art. Interested students should speak to Briony over the next week to express their interest.

Thanks everyone- have a wonderful week.

Religious Education
Holy Week in 3/4TR

Learning about Shapes in 34TR

In 4/5TR we used Digital Technology to retell the events of Holy Week using a digital format. Our goal was to create a 6 page storyboard retelling the main days of Holy Week. Students used the ‘Storyboard That’ program. Each student created six pages on their ‘Storyboard’. Each page had to include appropriate background and pictures and to include a short paragraph about the Holy Week event and to identify a symbol appropriate to that event/day. We loved reflecting on the story and using interesting ways to communicate the story.

Leadership in 5/6FA

During term two school leaders in 5/6FA  will be continuing to develop their leadership skills. This will involve ensuring that house point are collected every week, so the winning house can be presented at Friday’s Assembly. Also our House Captains will continue to monitor the sports shed so all children at Trinity can enjoy using different sports equipment during their lunch break. Our Leaders will also be assisting teachers organise upcoming Sporting events like Winter Gala.

Leadership is shared by all children in the senior level and those children who are involved in teams like Sustainability, Writing Club, Maths Club and Computer Club will continue to share their skills, leadership and learning with all the children at Trinity.

Below are some comments of our leaders in 5/6FA:

Leadership is important to me because it prepares me for adulthood. Will
Leadership is important to me because it helps me be a role model to others. Julieanna

The best thing l like about being a leader is being able to represent the school. William

The best thing l like about being a leader is communicating with others and making new friends.  Serah

Sustainability

On Wednesday, 3 April, our Sustainability Team walked to Finbar House in Kent Street to learn about their programs for recycling, composting and gardening.  We are hoping to be able to assist them in some way.  The Sustainability Team met Lyn who co-ordinates the programs at Finbar.
We were so impressed to see their worm farms, scrap buckets for composting, garden beds and all sorts of collections for various charitable groups.  Most impressive!
