YEAR TWO - TERM 1A, 2018

Communication is influenced by feelings and emotions

During this term the students will be participating in ‘The Resilience Project’. Topics to be explored include Mindfulness, Gratitude and Empathy.

Action

Action in the PYP is initiated independently by the student as a result of the learning process. Action may be bringing a book or artefact related to the inquiry to school, or student initiated drawings/posters/research. We celebrate our students’ ACTION every day in our classrooms. If you see your children taking independent action at home encourage them to share their action with their class.

A balanced lifestyle is influenced by the choices people make

During this Unit the students will brainstorm and discuss various types of recreation, exercise and nutrition. They will also design a healthy lunch box and try out a variety of exercises and relaxation techniques such as mediation and deep breathing.

Forces change the way things move

During this Unit the students will be involved in a number of Science experiments to explore pushes and pulls. Through investigations, students will observe and gather evidence about how these forces act in air and water, and on the ground.

YEAR TWO - TERM 3, 2018

Living things go through a process of change

During this Unit the students will be investigating the life cycle of mealworms. We will be keeping mealworms in our classrooms and observing the changes they go through. We will also attend an excursion to IMAX to see ‘The Life of Butterflies” and explore the ‘Bugs Alive’ exhibit at the Melbourne Museum.

Last term students showed 'Action' by bringing in a range of items related to our Unit of Inquiry. Students brought in various toys from home to demonstrate their understanding of forces and how things move.
