Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese’s Primary School,
It is difficult to believe that we are almost at the end of another school year. The age-old saying, ‘Time flies when you’re having fun’, seems to apply as we rush towards the end of Term Four.
It feels like only last week that we were beginning the last term of the year and here we are now facing the last couple of weeks before the summer holidays.
I know as I look at the School Calendar that the term will continue to fly by with the last few weeks full of our ‘end of year’ events. It is easy to get caught up in the business of the term and begin to feel overwhelmed. At this time of year, I ask that parents, teachers and students continue to show kindness and patience to one another.
FAMILY ADVENT WREATH MAKING
While we are preparing to end the school year, the Catholic church is beginning the season of Advent. Advent is a period of waiting, waiting for Christ the King to be born. It is a season of hope and joy. Yesterday, we held our annual Family Advent Wreath Making session. It was pleasing to see many families join us and spend time with their children creating wreaths that can be used at home in preparation for Christmas.
Some history and information of the Advent Wreath…
-
The wreath is round to symbolise God’s unending love
-
It is usually made of evergreen leaves to symbolise the hope of eternal life that Jesus brings to us
-
Purple candle number one represents HOPE
-
Purple candle number two represents PEACE
-
Pink candle number three represents JOY
-
Purple candle number four represents LOVE
-
A white fifth candle may be added to the middle on Christmas Day and represents CHRIST
CHRISTMAS CAROLS CONCERT
On Thursday, December 6 from 5:00pm, the students of St Therese’s will be presenting a Christmas Carols Concert to our learning community. The teachers and students have worked hard to prepare for this event and we encourage all families to attend. It is sure to fill us with joy and get us in the mood for Christmas!
From 5:00pm families are welcome to bring their picnic rugs and enjoy a BYO picnic on the oval and then from 6:00pm the concert will take place in the hall. Ms Andrews and our Taiko drummers will perform for your enjoyment some Christmas carols before the concert begins.
I hope you are looking forward to this event as much as I am!
