Thursday Night Fever - Light, Camera, Action!

The disco lights sparkled last Thursday evening as we celebrated the graduation of our 2018 Grade 6 students with their teachers, parents and special visitors. The evening was a wonderful opportunity for us to reflect on the achievements and contributions of our students and farewell them as they embark on the next stage of their learning journey.

The celebration began with our Grade 6 students sharing a meal together. The formal part of the evening began with a musical performance by our students and was followed by student speeches and the presentation ceremony. A highlight of the evening was hearing our students reflect on their time as a student at Hawthorn West. Their speeches were insightful, heartfelt, funny and delivered with flair.

Sincere thanks to everyone who contributed to making the evening a huge success:

  • To our amazing 2018 Grade 6 teaching team: Claire Stoller / Emma Meale, Emily Kurts , Melinda Airey, Tom Christopher and Will Ponsford who worked tirelessly to ensure the night was a success.
  • To the terrific Graduation Committee – Katrina McKenna (Zoe), Cath White (Olivia / Sammy), Jenny Whiting (Flynn), Mim Ingvarson (Kitty), Michelle Bruce (Caitlin), Heidi Fitzgerald (Cash), Soula Papadopoulos (Amber), Ivona Tauiliili (Samantha) and Kirsten McGrath (Sophie) who volunteered their time and talents to help make this a special night for everyone involved.

We are very proud of this outstanding and talented group of young people who have actively contributed to our school community this year and wish all of our Grade 6 students and

their families the best for the future.

School Security over the holidays

It would be a great assistance to the School Council, staff and students if all parents could keep a watch out for vandalism or unusual “happenings” in the school grounds over the holidays. If you notice any unusual happenings, please call the police immediately. Thanks for your help with this.
