Principal News

Dear Sacred Heart Community,

I would like to thank all our students and their families for your support of our school during this past term. Your willingness to cooperate with school initiatives and active interest in the educational experiences we present, allows our school to be always looking to improve its practices. I would like to wish all our families a restful break and hope that you can enjoy some quality family time.

Congratulations to our Year Four students who received the Sacrament of the Eucharist for the first time last Sunday. It was inspiring to see our church filled to the rafters with young families and older parishioners, coming together in prayer, song and reflection.

Last Friday, we celebrated our Footy Colour's Day. Our students participated in football activities organised by our student sport's committee, ate scrumptious hot dogs and then watched a netball match between the senior students and staff. It was great to see such a wide range of AFL teams colours being worn with such pride. A big thank you to mums, Jodie and Vy, for organising 130 hot dogs.

Whilst we are on the sporting theme, congratulations to our two students Sienna and Aleisha, who again represented our school and themselves with distinction at the Division Athletics Carnival last week. Sienna came first in the long jump and Aleisha came first in the 800 metres and second in the 1500 metres.

Last Wednesday our latest group of students to receive the "Sacred Heart, Good Samaritan Award" were presented at our assembly. Congratulations to Jayden (Year Prep), Amelia (Year 2), Miliana (Year 3), Amelia (Year 3), Connor (Year 5), Georgia (Year 5) and Sean (Year5) for exhibiting great personal qualities over these past four weeks.

A reminder about some safety issues that we would ask for your continued cooperation please. When parking of an evening and morning in the Church driveway, it is important to leave space for cars accessing the church car park at the rear of the church.

We again ask that students do not use the adventure playground before school. With only one teacher on duty we cannot provide adequate supervision to ensure the safety of students on this equipment. After school, students can only be on the playground if they are accompanied by their parent. Responsibility for our student's safety is then the domain of the parent.

Again have a great holiday, if your team is still in the final's race, best of luck, and we look forward to seeing you next term.

Yours sincerely,

Mark Tierney

A reminder that it is important for all families to complete the CEMSIS survey by this Friday 20th September. Each family received a note with login details, It only takes 20 minutes and it provides our school community with an opportunity to have input into future directions of the school.

Year 3/4 News

Zion's First Eucharist

On Sunday morning I did the same stuff. After my shower I got to put on my blazer and then me and my family set off to church. We all had a chat before the actual Eucharist. When the mass started it was mostly sit, stand, kneel, then we received the holy bread and prayed. After mass we went and got some KFC and for dinner all my family came.  Zion

Jayben's First Eucharist

When I got to the church I was so excited that I was receiving my first Eucharist. I was getting the bread that was blessed. After that my family didn't celebrate we just stayed together as a family but tomorrow we will as a family. Jayben

Sylvie's First Eucharist

During the morning of my Eucharist, I woke up feeling very excited. Once I got dressed, my mum gave me a Pandora bracelet with charms on it. When I got to the church the children receiving their Eucharist lined up to enter the church. I had to do one of the prayers of the faithful and then we received the bread. After that I went to lunch and got lots of presents. Sylvie

SAVE THE DATE!

Jacqueline's model was impressive, especially the drawings and paintings. The stop motion video was cool. I am wondering how she drew such small pictures. By Julian Y3.

Many teachers also commented on Jacqui's presentation, and the conversation she had with her audience, ensuring the audience understood what she had said.

Makayla had a lot of facts and explained the project very well and had lots of pictures. By Ankita Y4

Tyson had really good animations and made the characters feel real. By Ryan Y4

Jacob's presentation was very creative and he made me think about things that others might not have. By Thomas Y4

Jaskaran was very confident and proud of his project. He was very knowledgeable and it showed in the way he presented his information. By Marie (teacher) Y3/4
