Education News

Library news

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas and we have decorated the library meeting area with a Christmas tree made out of books! The students have all been very impressed with our tree. We have a large number of Picture Story books related to Christmas that can be borrowed and are suitable for all ages; a particular one is ‘Wombats Christmas’ which is part of the popular Wombat series by Jackie French. Please pop into the library to see our display and a very impressive tree.

Indigenous Literacy Foundation Great Book Swap

During 2017 the MPW community participated in the Indigenous Literacy Foundation Great Book Swap.  Over 20,000 students participated across Australia in the campaign which raised more than $200,000. This will ensure that the Foundation's vision will be delivered in 2018 through three literacy-based programs to children in remote communities across Australia. Please find below a certificate of appreciation awarded to MPW. Look out for the Great Book Swap 2018 during the 8-15 July.

The end of the school year is fast approaching and the school is still missing a large number of library, classroom and literature books. Could you please check your bookshelves and all other good hiding spots at home and return any lost and now foundback to the library.

We would like to take the opportunity to thank you for your support throughout 2017.

Music

Choir Musicals

What a sensational year 2017 has been, full of action packed learning for the MPW Junior and Senior Choirs.

Our students have been learning about the performing arts in the best way possible, by doing it. The junior choir only started in term 3, with a focus on becoming aware of rhythm, pitch, dynamics and expression. The Bee Musical provided them with an opportunity to tell a story through music and practice performing with beat and tempo, which they did beautifully.

Congratulations to all the beautiful bees.

The world of Seussical Jr. has provided a perfect platform for our senior choir to explore many elements of music, drama and dance; to become storytellers.

Again, I applaud and commend all the senior choir members for the level of commitment, persistence and resilience they have shown in order to learn the songs, choreography and direction needed to perform this musical.

Congratulation to all the Whos, jungle of Nool animals, monkeys and birds on an amazing performance; can’t wait for 2018.

Thanks

Kate

Lost Property

In 2016 - 40kg of unnamed clothing and

30 items of unnamed plastic containers were donated to charity each month.

Our lost property is managed by parent volunteers and we need your help to reduce this huge workload and loss of property.

You can help by:

  • ensuring all belongings are clearly marked with student's names and room numbers
  • regularly check (and encourage your child/ren to check) for their lost property
  • remember it is the responsibility of students and families to regularly check lost property and reclaim items

When is unnamed lost property cleared and donated to charity?

  • Last Friday of every month

Where is lost property?

In the causeway at the entry to room 7 and 8 (near the toilet block off the little adventure playground).
