Education Week Next Week

Next week is education week. While we celebrate learning all the time next week is our chance to do something a bit extra. The theme this year is the Arts whcih is perfect considering we are all about Production this term, as well as our usual learning.

Tuesday Night - Movie Night

Come along on Tuesday night for pizza and a movie in our library. Bring along a comfy bean bag or cushion and sit down and relax. Parents are required to attend with their children for this event. You can RSVP via the link on Compass or call through to the office. We will be having a variety of types of pizza in order to cater for everyone. There is no cost to this event it is just a great way to be with our school community. The event starts at 6:30pm.

Open Day - This Saturday 9-11

This Saturday is Open morning. We like to invite our year 3 to 6's along to take tours for prospective parents and this year we would also like to invite you along. The classrooms will be open with your child having chosen a favourite piece of work to share. If you haven't been up to the school for a while come and have a visit.

As you are aware this week is NAPLAN. The students in years 3 and 5 will be participating in tests over 3 days. We do not want children to be stressed about this test as it is a snapshot of their learning taken on one day in a very short time period. While our students participate and try their best we regularly assess and conference with our students to find out what their learning goals are without placing unneccessay stress or pressures on them. It is important that NAPLAN is kept in the perspective of what it is and that we acknowledge that our children have a variety of strengths in many different areas that can't be measured with pen and paper in a half hour block.

Busy times

We have quite a few events coming up over the next few weeks so please keep an eye on the Compass calendar for any updates.

Have a great week everyone.

Healthy dinners the kids can make

Add a "the kids are cooking" night to the meal plan for the week and everyone wins. Not only is it fun for your kids to get their hands dirty and cook up something for dinner, but it also gives you a break for the evening. Here are just a couple of websites with super easy recipes that the kids can make.

We know that kids usually love to cook particularly if they are in control. A great way for you to have a bit of a break, if you are lucky! Encourage independence and let them have a go. Make sure you make them clean up afterwords though!
