Education Subcommittee meeting

Parent/Carer Teacher Student Interviews

Thank you to everyone who attended the Parent/Carer Teacher Student Interviews. 

Parent Opinion Survey

This year the Parent Opinion Survey is to be conducted online via a secure portal. During the next few weeks a randomly selected number of parents/carers will receive details on how to access the survey. For parents/carers who are unable to access the survey please contact Sandra Monaghan in the Office to arrange for online access to be made available at school.

Bell Shakespeare

The Bell Shakespeare Company will be holding workshops for the students in years 3 & 4 throughout the week beginning 31st of July. Staff will also be participating in a 2 hour workshop.


Helen Lockart is currently on leave for family reasons. In Helen's absence we welcome Joanne Belvedere to Room 23.

Sibling Enrolments 2018

Sibling enrolment forms are available at the office. If you are enrolling a sibling for 2018 could you please submit the enrolment forms as early as possible to assist with forward planning.

Education News 

Multi-age workshops

Last semester students from across the school have been having lots of fun at our Creative Arts Workshops. Our multi-age workshops take place every Tuesday and Thursday afternoon with students choosing to attend with a friend from their own grade. The workshops encourage group activities and new friendships, with students attending from every grade level with older and younger students working together. 

In addition, and most importantly the workshops aim to promote and extend creativity, offering a different activity each week providing students with a range of creative experiences.

Some of the activities have been:

An Explosion of Colour, Collages and drawings by Van Gogh, Dancing Styles, Drawing to Music, Drama Activities, 3D drawing and Linear Hands. Drama and dancing has been one of the popular workshops.


Artist in Residence – Bell Shakespeare

Next week on July 31, all the grade3/4s will have the opportunity to work with an artist from the Bell Shakespeare company. Over the course of the week all students will work with the artist for at least 4 hours during the week, learning more about Shakespeare’s plays and participating in a range of drama activities. Staff and students are very excited about this upcoming event.

Could all the grade 6’s in the school please  check they haven’t taken home someone else’s grade 6 jumper, because I have misplaced mine and I would really love it to be returned.

Sport News

Athletics Trials

Over the past four school weeks our Gr 4/5 & 6 students have been completing Athletics Trials.  All age groups have participated in Long Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Discus as well as 100m and hurdles.


Our Final team will be announced on Monday on the Sports notice board in the Gym, with all athletes chosen to then represent our school at the Ascot Vale District Athletics Carnival on Monday 7th August at Aberfeldie Park.  Thanks to all the teachers who have helped run the trials and good luck to our Athletics Team!


Region Soccer Final

On Wednesday 26th July our Gr 5/6 girls soccer team travelled to Yarraville Oval to play Yarraville West Primary School in the Region Final.



Thanks to all the Parents/Carers and Family who came and supported our girls on the day.

If your child is absent from school (including illness and appointment), it is necessary to inform the  school.  This can be in the form of a telephone call, email, entering the absence through a link on the front page of our website, in writing or by advising the office or classroom teacher directly.

If your child is sick it is advisable to not send your child to school.

Before and After School Care

At MPW before and after school care is provided by Camp Australia. The service operates 7.15  - 8.45 am in the morning and  3.30 to 6.15 pm afternoons.

Lost Property

In 2016 - 40kg of unnamed clothing and

30 items of unnamed plastic containers were donated to charity each month.


Our lost property is managed by parent volunteers and we need your help to reduce this huge workload and loss of property.


You can help by:

  • ensuring all belongings are clearly marked with student's names and room numbers
  • regularly check (and encourage your child/ren to check) for their lost property
  • remember it is the responsibility of students and families to regularly check lost property and reclaim items

When is unnamed lost property cleared and donated to charity?

  • Last Friday of every month

Where is lost property?

In the causeway at the entry to room 7 and 8 (near the toilet block off the little adventure playground).
