From The Principal
On Tuesday of last week, we held our annual multi-cultural assembly. This was a very special event, as it provided us with the opportunity to acknowledge and celebrate the diversity of our school community. Our secondary SRC organised the assembly, which involved some amazing cultural dances, songs, presentations and recitals. It was good to see so many parents in attendance too. The day was an excellent example of what makes Carwatha such a special place. Thank you to the secondary SRC for organising the assembly, Ms Bawa and Ms Spina for their support, the students who dressed in cultural costumes and the parents for so proudly supporting the day.
On Wednesday, September 7th, we had our School Review day. An independent reviewer worked with senior staff and school council president, Michele Coxhill, to discuss current achievements and future directions for the school. The reviewer will provide us with a report which will help to guide us in the development of a new strategic plan.
Last Saturday, 16 of our secondary students performed in the mass dance in the Victorian State Schools’ Spectacular at Hisense arena. Alison Hughes featured in a dance ensemble. The show was outstanding and all of our students did themselves and their school proud. Thanks must go to teachers, Erin Carter and Deb Karambinas who supported the students through rehearsals and / or the performances. Thank you also to ex-student, Mitchell Vandoras who assisted.
Thanks to the parents who attended parent – teacher night / afternoon last week.
Once again, a very busy term, full of many opportunities for our students to learn and grow, both inside and outside the classroom. Term 3 ends on Friday, September 16th. Students will be dismissed at 2.30 p.m. Term 4 begins on Monday October 3rd.
I would like to wish all of our families a relaxing and enjoyable break.
