Welcome everyone to the 2018 school year. I hope everyone has had a good break and are ready for the great year we have planned ahead. We welcome all our new families and students into our safe and happy learning environment to start their education at Moyhu PS.
A big thank-you to everyone who turned up for our working bee and worked in the heat on Monday evening . The school certainly looked great for the students on their first day back on Tuesday morning.
Some of the students have been wearing the new school t-shirts this week and they look great! Don't forget all students need to wear their hats in Term 1. We now have new hats for sale in the office. Please contact Renee if you would like to buy one. Another reminder in regards to shoes, please ensure the shoes worn to school have an enclosed toe. Sandals can be worn as long as the toes and heels are enclosed.
There have been a few small changes to the timetable this year. Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden (SAKG) program will be every second Monday this year instead of Wednesday. This program continues to be held at Edi Upper Primary with our new cooking teacher, Linda Forrest. The music program With Alex O’Connor will be on a Monday this year not Thursday as previous years.
As you are aware the swimming program has started . We will be having lessons on Wednesday and Friday afternoons in our pool. The pool is looking great – with our new cleaner and pump.
After 5 years working and travelling out to Moyhu Angie Semmens our MOSH Coordinator has accepted an after school care position closer to home in Wangaratta. Her last day at MOSH will be this Friday 2nd. We wish Angie all the best in her new position and thank her for all her work over the past few years at Moyhu. We are currently in the process of filling the after school care position. In the meantime we will have Casey Ivone helping out with the MOSH program. Should you have any queries at all in regards to these changes please do not hesitate to contact me.
Show us your Wheels
After the working bee on Monday there was a meeting to finalise organisation around the Show Us Your Wheels fundraiser coming up on Sunday the 25th February. There will be a roster sent out soon for you to complete and return indicating when you can help on the day. The show runs from 10am until 2pm although setting up will start earlier. There is a fair bit of work required in the setting and packing up before the show and afterwards, so the more people who are available to help, will make it much easier. It is our major fundraising activity for the year where the profit contributes greatly to subsidise excursions, trips and equipment that the students attend or use throughout the current school year. It is also a great chance on the day for families and students to catch up together in a more social environment.
Just to finish off for our first week back, I just want to let you all know that your student's teachers, Kate, Bec and myself as both teacher and principal are always available to catch up with you should you need to. I cannot emphasise enough, that communication within our school is very important. Should you have any queries or issues about anything whether it seem insignificant or not please contact the school directly to clarify or discuss. All the staff here at Moyhu Primary are always willing to assist in making our students education a positive and enjoyable experience. Sometimes an appointment will need to be made if we are teaching.
Over the next couple of weeks we will be updating all of our school policies and they will be uploaded on to the school website after they have been ratified at the next School Council Meeting. If you would ever like to see any of our policies if they are not listed, please contact Renee.
There will be copies of your student's enrollment details going home over the next week along with invoices and permission forms to photograph. Can you please return these as soon as possible so we can update any changes.
