Statements of Intent (SOI)

Every two weeks our teachers produce a fortnightly planner which is referred to as an SOI.  This sets out an intention of what will be taught in the classroom during that period.  These can be accessed on the school website and are displayed on the year level communication boards.

Building Community at Beaumaris PS
Parent Expo Evening: July 24th 6.30-8.00pm
Book now on Qkr!

We are committed to developing strong links between home and school. We continually explore opportunities to strengthen the partnership.

To support families and build community we have organised a range of amazing speakers to present a variety of workshops related to initiatives in the school, information to assist families and the school governance framework.

Parents are invited to register for three presentations, each of 25 minutes duration, and rotate through their nominated presentations  between 6.30-8.00pm.

Presentations on the night will include:

1. The Bayside Youth Resilience Project:

Louise will describe the purpose of the project, the results of the student resilience survey  to inform parents about  ways in which they can build and strengthen resilience in their children.

Facilitator Louise Neave-Assistant Principal

2. School Council Governance:

Bruce will expand on the role and functions of School Council within schools and the various subcommittees that contribute to and support the ongoing evolution of the school.

Facilitator Bruce Baker-School Council President

3. 21st Century Learning Design :

Rowena will explain the characteristics of 21st century learners and the work she has been undertaking with our staff this year to develop characteristics and qualities within our students that will support them as learners and equip them for life beyond school.

Facilitator Rowena Ulbrick-Our in-school consultant

4. Sustainability Practices:

Lindy will outline sustainability programs in the school and the broader community and sustainability practices within the home.

Facilitator Lindy McManus-Classroom Teacher

5. Parent Wellbeing:

Melinda will focus on the importance of  parent wellbeing practices within the family unit.

Facilitator Dr Melinda Norris-Parent at Beaumaris PS

6. ‘Beaumaris. A creative past, an exciting future. A treasure trove in your own backyard’.

Jamie and the parent team will outline the architectural significance of homes in the area, the history of the local community and the community of artists and creatives within Beaumaris. Jamie will offer ways families can become involved in a range of groups that support these features of our local community.

Facilitator: Jamie Paterson supported by  Annie Price, Carlie Fraser, Letitia Green, Mike & Polly Ostapchuk-all parents at Beaumaris PS.

7. Bayside Earth Sciences Society:

Ray will describe the fascinating work undertaken by the society along the Beaumaris and Mentone foreshore and the significance of the sites at a local, national and international level. He will outline ways in which families may like to become involved.

Facilitator Ray Lang

To book a seat at three sessions of your choice please RSVP on Qkr!  The booking can be found under the BPS Events tab (there is no charge for this event), click on the "Building community header" and select three of the presentations available.

Building update

We are hopeful handover will be next week. We will advise the community next week if the opportunity arises during the week to open the building for a preview before the students move in at the commencement of Term 3.

Otherwise, during Term 3, parents will be invited into the building for a walk through once the students have settled in.

Quote of the week...

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful.”  Joshua J Marine

Gratitude and Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?

Library Book Returns

Returns this semester have been absolutely fantastic, with very few overdue notices being issued. Keep up the good work, everyone!  All books need to be returned by Wednesday 26th June, however, if you need a book to read over the holidays, please see Ellie in the library and she will organise something for you. Happy reading everyone.

Uniform Shop

The Uniform Shop will open again from 8.45am – 9.15am on Tuesday 16th July – the first Tuesday of term after the holidays. There is a large waiting list for second hand items, particularly long sleeved polos, windcheaters and bomber jackets of all sizes, so if you have any clean items which are in good condition but are no longer needed, please bring them into the office. If you would like to join our waiting list for donated items, please email the office with the type, size and number of items you are looking for.

Congratulations Lily

Lily finished second whilst representing Beaumaris Primary in the Southern Metropolitan Regional Cross Country Championship this morning in Hastings; completing the 3km foreshore course in cold and windy conditions.  Lily will now compete in the State Final to be held on 18 July at Bundoora Park.

A friendly reminder:
Parent/Teacher Interviews June 24th to June 28th
Bookings close on Compass from tomorrow June 21st at 4pm.

Compass will close for bookings tomorrow, Friday June 21st, at 4pm.  Parents can book an interview via Compass using their Compass login.

Parent/Teacher interviews will take place next week beginning Monday 24th June. On Wednesday 26th June, evening time slots are available to accommodate parents who are unable to attend during the day.

Specialist teachers are available for parent/teacher interviews. Sometimes parents book a time slot to introduce themselves to the specialist teachers. Whilst the specialists enjoy getting to know parents, we ask that interview time slots are booked by parents who wish to discuss matters related to their child’s learning and progress as a priority.

Early dismissal Friday June 28th at 2.30pm
No assembly

To conclude the term,  students will be dismissed at 2.30pm next Friday June 28th.
