Footy Day Fever and Father's Day Breakfast tomorrow

We are sure dads will be delighted with their gifts on Sunday. The students were able to choose something very special from a great range of gifts.  Thank you to the parents for purchasing the items and helping out on the stall. We hope gifts arrive home safely and are well hidden in readiness for Father's Day on Sunday.  Happy Father's Day to all our dads.  We hope you have a lovely day with the family.

A huge thank you to all parents involved in organising this greatly anticipated event and preparing the delicious breakfast which will be available tomorrow from 7.30am. We hope lots of dads and special friends come along. Soon after 9.00am we will have our footy team parade and gold coin donation, followed by our annual Students vs Teachers footy match. Let’s hope there is some sunshine.

Whole school Assembly tomorrow at 3pm

We will have our usual whole school assembly tomorrow. Last week we were amazed by the talents of some Year 5 boys who have formed a band. This week we are looking forward to a performance by our Year 2 students.

Whole School Working Bee on Sunday 9th September

Many hands make light work.

Our priorities include:

- The removal of some large wall art on the Prep, Year 1 and Year 3 building in readiness for demolition later in the year.

- Weeding, pruning, planting and mulching the native garden along Herbert St.

If you and the family have some time to spare on Sunday between 9 and 11.30am, your help would be greatly appreciated. Bacon and egg sandwiches and coffee/tea will be available at 11.15am to conclude the morning.

Please register your attendance via the link HERE.

Every year we look forward to this truly wonderful event. NAPLAN Year 3 and 5 Student results

Parents are advised that their child's individual Student Report for NAPLAN will be posted to the the family home address on Monday 3 September and should arrive by mid week.

School Uniform

Parents are asked to adhere to the approved school uniform. At times we notice students arriving at school wearing non uniform items. Thank you for your support.  Photos of the correct school uniform are available on the school website  click here to access the photos.

Remember: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?

BPS SunSmart Policy “Hats On September 1st” a friendly reminder

This weekend we celebrate the start of Spring and need to see all students wearing their hats during recess, lunchtime and sport sessions from Monday 3 September. This is a feature of our school Sunsmart policy. If your hat has disappeared over the Winter break they are available from the uniform shop and can be ordered on Qkr!  Students without their hat will play in the shade. Please check hats are labelled legibly to enable a lost hat to be returned to its owner.

Excursion Levy

The due date for school fees is now well overdue.  If your excursion levy has not been paid your child /children will not be able to attend any excursions or activities taking place until the amount is received.  If you are unsure if you have paid, your teacher will have a list or contact the office.

A message from Junior School Council

Tomorrow is Footy Day! Come along in your favourite AFL, NRL, A-League or any other footy team's colours. Bring along a gold coin donation to raise money for State School Relief and our World Vision child, Fikrey. The JSC representatives will be meeting all the Preps in the Kitchen Garden area just after the roll has been marked, to escort the them to the asphalt.

Over the next week, the JSC will be selling Legacy badges, pens, teddies, wrist bands and tattoos from the office. We have $2, $5 and $10 badges and even $15 teddies dressed in various outfits. Each day during the beginning of lunchtime, the JSC representatives invite students to the office to purchase some items from the Legacy Foundation.

Victorian Premiers' Reading Challenge 2018 - one week to go - ends 7th September

A final reminder to parents and children about updating the reading records of participants online. Parents, please help your child to check his/her online entries to confirm that the records are up to date. This week is your last opportunity to do so, as on the 7th September, the Reading Challenge ends. No data can be entered after this date. In October/November the certificates will be issued to successful participants and the honour roll will be published online.

Just a reminder, parents of participants must give written consent for their child's name to appear on the Honour Roll online. If you haven't already done so, please complete this form and return it to school by Wednesday 5th September:

Snack Shack volunteers needed Term 4

We are calling for volunteers to help out in the Snack Shack in Term 4. Anyone with a current Working With Children Check who is an immediate family member of an existing student at this school is welcome to help out in the canteen. A notice was sent via Compass to all parents and guardians earlier in the week. At least 10 volunteers are needed per week in order for the canteen to run as smoothly as it does, so please consider doing at least one shift during the term. Shifts are maximum of only 2 hours. Your children will love having you/Aunty/Grandpa here! Please complete the form, save, and send to [email protected] by Monday 17th September. If you cannot locate your form, there are hard copies available at the office. The roster will be completed and circulated via email by the end of term. Thank you.

Extra, Extra, read all about us...

Congratulations to Lulu in Year 5 who has been selected to play in the U13 Victorian Girls Hockey team.  We send our best wishes to Lulu for her upcoming games.

Uniform Shop

There are a few second-hand uniform items for sale at the Uniform Shop, which is open on the first Tuesday of the month.  Next opening is on Tuesday 4th September from 8.45am to 9.15am.

Parent Club

As you know our big fundraiser for this year is our Greatest Showman/Circus themed parent social night on Sat 27th Oct at Sandy by the Bay. Please save the date if you haven't already. Funds raised will go towards ongoing improvements to the playground spaces.  We have a fabulous team already volunteering but do need some more help. So if you would like to volunteer for any of the below please let me know.

  • I have lots of donations that need collecting from different areas so would love some volunteers for this
  • We need 2 or 3 people to ask the Concourse shops for donations
  • I have a few other shops to target that need donation letters dropped off to and followed up. You can let me know how many you are able to approach. Every business approached helps.

We have two school families who are currently sponsoring us (thank you LAMI & BC Dental) with a few more coming on board soon. However we would LOVE as many sponsors as possible. Sponsorship starts from $250 so let me know if this interests you and I can send you a sponsorship document.

We need lots of donations for our online auction so if you can donate anything it will be gratefully received. We are also making up hampers so if you have any new but unwanted pressies hiding in your cupboards please drop them off to the office.

Finally if you have any contacts for donations please get in touch.

Many thanks
