St Andrew’s Community Fete - A great community celebration!

We thank all families for joining us at our St Andrew’s Fete last Saturday.   As so many have commented, what a great community event it was!  The weather did threaten to spoil the party on a number of occasions but thankfully wasn’t a factor until well after lunches were enjoyed and the ‘all day ride passes’ had well and truly paid their way!
A huge thank you to all parents and staff who supported the day through the giving of their time, donations or by simply being there on the day to add to the primary reason for the Fete, to celebrate our identity as a community.
We thank all members of the Parish for joining with us in such fine spirits and more so from a personal perspective, for the great choice of lunches!  We thank members of the Fete Committee for the many night meetings that led to such a successful event and for the many hours spent in preparation and pack up on Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday.   From a school perspective we thank David Preston and Rosario Corio for being our school representatives on this committee .

Year 1/2S

Happy Term 4 all 1 /2 Families
Greetings everyone.

Term 3 seems a long way off now as we are well of the way for Term 4. It’s good to be back.
Last term was very enjoyable as we explored our family traditions and cultures as well as exploring those of our classmates. We learnt quite a bit about our world geography as we progressed and we also studied maps and location in Mathematics which fitted in well.

Our technology was well supported by Mr H who taught us a lot of skills in Google Classrooms. He will be returning throughout the term to support our learning of new and challenging skills and we plan to revisit some old favourites such as Beebots.
It was great to be able to share our growing portfolio folders with families on the SeeSaw App. Students take special pride in their work and put in extra effort when they know it will be published and seen.

This term in our Reading sessions, we are working on Procedural Texts continuing to build our skills and knowledge and apply them through a variety of learning tasks. Some of these tasks include sequencing, vocabulary work, making connections and presenting our work in digital form. We are still focusing on our comprehension skills.

In Writing our focus is on Procedural Writing. We are using the structure of this text type to explore the writing of many procedures including recipes, making craft, and game instructions.

This term We have a lot to look forward to this term, besides the long holidays in December!

We have a great inspiring unit of work for Inquiry about building and construction. We will present our research and findings in a range of ways in our Chromebooks. No doubt we can send some great work home on SeeSaw for our families to discuss and continue the great learning at home.

We are currently planning an exciting incursion which will support our learning in Inquiry.

The Swimming Program commences Monday 25th for all Year 2 students. This will be a wonderful introduction to safe summer fun in the water.

In Mathematics we will be revisiting areas in Number. We completed some great our work in Fractions, Financial Maths, and Measurement including Mass and Length.

In our Religion unit of work, we are presently focusing on Mary and the Rosary. All Saint’s day is coming up and we plan to remember those who have passed on.
We are focusing on Mary as Jesus’ first disciple. During the term will be building on students' knowledge by investigating and celebrating Advent. The students will be examining the meaning of the seasons and how it relates to us and our world.

Thanks for your help and assistance during the year.

Regards,  Mrs Maggie Sproul - Class 1/2 teacher

Religious Education

The Year 5/6 students have been learning about prayer in Religious Education lessons. The students have explored the meaning of prayer, why people pray and how people pray. They have learnt about prayers of Thanksgiving, Petition, Sorrow and Praise and have written their own prayers for issues in our local and global community.

Dear Parents,

Last Saturday we had a wonderful St Andrew’s Parish Community Fete.

It was a fabulous effort made by so many of our beautiful community. Thank you to the Fete Committee for again calling upon P&F to manage the cake stall. Thank you to our P&F committee and other volunteers who supported the cake stall throughout the day. Thank you to our school and parish community who generously donated their yummy home baked goodies. Special thanks to Viv from our P&F committee who kindly brought in her coffee machine and barista skills as well as donated pods for the cake stall.
