Statements of Intent (SOI)

Every two weeks our teachers produce a fortnightly planner which is referred to as an SOI.  This sets out an intention of what will be taught in the classroom during that period.  These can be accessed on the school website and are displayed on the year level communication boards.

Student Reports Semester One

Our teachers are preparing mid year reports. Teachers use a range of assessment tools to ascertain student achievement and progress against the standards in the Victorian Curriculum.

Semester One Student Reports will be available on Compass on Friday June 21st from 4pm to enable parents to read their child's report in advance of the Parent/Teacher Interview.

Parent/Teacher Interviews June 24th to June 28th
Bookings open on Compass from June 14th at 9am to June 21st at 4pm.

Compass will be open for bookings for one week from Friday June 14th at 9am until Friday June 21st at 4pm.  Parents can book an interview via Compass using their Compass login.

Parent/Teacher interviews will take place in the final week of the term beginning Monday 24th June. On Wednesday 26th June, evening time slots will be available to accommodate parents who are unable to attend during the day.

Specialist teachers are available for parent/teacher interviews. Sometimes parents book a time slot to introduce themselves to the specialist teachers. Whilst the specialists enjoy getting to know parents, we ask that interview time slots are booked by parents who wish to discuss matters related to their child’s learning and progress as a priority.

Cybersafety and Security Parent Information Evening
Tuesday September 3rd 6.30-8.00pm

Throughout the year we guide our students in the safe use of the internet and we have a major focus on this during Esmart Week. During Esmart Week this year we are offering parents the opportunity to attend an evening presentation highlighting ways in which parents can address their child's cyber safety.  Please read add the date to your calendar.

Curriculum Planning Week

The delivery of a carefully planned, detailed curriculum that both supports and challenges our students is the priority of this school. The second last week of term is Curriculum Planning Week. Teacher teams will  work with Rowena Ulbrick, Consultant for 21st Century Learning Design, to develop the curriculum for Term Three. Our planning documentation is always prepared by teams in advance to ensure continuity and challenge.

Prep enrolments for 2020

Prep enrolments for 2020 are now being accepted.  We ask current families with children entering their first year of school next year, to collect an enrolment form from the office, or  use the enrolment tab on our website to locate a copy of the form. Please return the completed form ASAP.

Building Project Update: Asphalting underway

We are almost there. Not long now. The asphalting is underway and most of the internal fit out has been completed. The project schedule is on track and we will advise the community of our move-in date once handover has been completed. Very exciting!

Early arrivals at school: Book in to Before School Care

We understand that unexpected family circumstances arise necessitating students to be dropped off at school earlier than usual. Parents can organize Before School Care for their child by booking a place in the program online. Program information and booking guidelines can be found on our website under the Parents tab. The program operates from 7.00am to 8.45am every day.

By booking your child into the service you will feel confident your children are safe in the care of the supervisors, in a warm environment on cold mornings, and in the company of other students.

The  school grounds are not  supervised until 8.45am.

It's flu season. Please keep the children home if they are unwell

We seek parent support to keep the children at home if they are feeling unwell, particularly with signs of coughs and colds. The flu is very contagious and we want to minimise its impact within the school and reduce student and staff absences due to illness.

We appreciate your support.

Gratitude and Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?

volunteersignup.org/8TJK4

To sign up, just follow the instructions on the page. It only takes a few seconds to do. Thank you for volunteering!

Thank you

Many, many thanks to all the volunteers who made Hot Choc and Mac & Cheese Day possible. The children love special food days and without extra hands they can't happen.

Division Cross Country

Four of our senior students represented Beaumaris Primary this morning at the Kingston Division Cross Country.  It was an opportunity for skilled runners to compete for a place in the upcoming Southern Metro Region Cross Country event.   Despite the very muddy conditions at the Cornish College course all our students ran really well, all of them placing highly.  Well done to Katie, Lily, Jean-Baptiste and Georgia and a special mention for Lily who finished in second place in her age group to go through to the Regional event.

Sporting Achievements

Congratulations to two of our Year 6 students who have received good news about their sporting achievements this week:

Silas has been selected as a member of the SSV u12 Boys Victorian Hockey State team which will be taking part in the Championship to be held in Bendigo, in August this year.

Indi is a nominee for The Leader Junior Sports Star and was featured in this weeks Bayside Leader for her gymnastics achievements (detailed in the photo from The Leader article).

From the Art Room

A warm hello from the art room.

We are in desperate need of  newspapers this year. If you could  start collecting your old papers,  we would be most grateful.

Thank you.

Camp Australia: Out of Hours Care

Camp Australia have advised us of fee adjustments that will be effective July 1st 2019 at Beaumaris Primary School.  The exact fees will be confirmed in next week's Stop Press.

These fee adjustments result from ongoing cost increases for wages, food and resources and are also in line with their ongoing commitment to reinvest into our school.

Please see below an overview of the key projects that Camp Australia will be implementing for the coming Financial Year at Beaumaris Primary School:

  • Continued investment in significant additional training for every Coordinator, with an emphasis on safety, supervision and behaviour guidance.
  • A refocus of the support role of the Regional Manager; creating more time for them to spend directly on-site with the Coordinator, providing guidance, training and personal advice.
  • Camp Australia's team of Compliance, Quality and Training Specialists will also continue to frequently visit and audit all services to provide further guidance and support to the Coordinators.
  • Continue to transition staff to permanent contracts to better service BPS and invest in the security of our most important staff.
  • Continue to invest in systems and tools to allow Coordinators to improve the quality of the program they develop and deliver at their service every day.
