From the Principal

Dear Parents and Caregivers, Konnichiwa!

Start of the 2019 School Year

We have had an excellent start to the 2019 school year at Grange. Our enrolments are now 757 children across 28 classes. A special welcome to our new children and families starting at Grange and to the new teaching and support staff joining us this year. We have had only a few teacher changes from 2018 and welcome Hayley Gladigau (Year 1 teacher), Daniel Moyle (Year 5/6 teacher), Jasmine Pearce (Year 6 teacher), Rebecca Lokan (Literacy coach) and Maureen Hegarty (Mathematics coach) to Grange. The new support staff at Grange in 2019 are Amy Kretschmer, Kate Gaughan and Leanne Sclater.

Our teachers and support staff have worked very hard prior to our first day in organising and preparing classroom learning environments, resources and materials to provide a structured, ordered and well prepared environment ready for learning. New and returning students were also happy and ready for learning.

As many of you are aware our school, staff and the parent governing body of Governing Council are committed to continual improvement, with the ultimate aim of every student being the very best they can be.

From this school year we have strengthened our professional support for teachers through a coaching and mentoring strategy. Alongside the work of our outstanding Senior Leaders in the school we have appointed three curriculum coaches in

  • Literacy- Rebecca Lokan
  • Mathematics- Maureen Hegarty
  • Technology- Chris Philbrook

These three excellent teachers will work intensively alongside all classroom teachers to model, co-teach, co-plan, share, collaborate and extend best teaching practice.

I look forward to working in collaboration with our students, parents and staff in achieving our goal of moving Grange from a good and great school to one that is consistently outstanding. With such a highly skilled, happy, committed, enthusiastic and passionate group of educators as we have at Grange in 2019 this goal is well on track.

Attached are photos of our staff for 2019.

School Uniform Update

HATS AND BAGS

We previously advised that Hats and Bags would still be available from school via the Front Office or the Qkr App. However, it has been reported to us by our uniform supplier that many people have asked about having hats and bags on sale along with the clothing items. Therefore, starting immediately, hats and bags will only be available to purchase from Westside School Uniforms, either at the Westside shop or via their website.

Prices will be as follows:

Medium Bags with logo                $40.00

Large Bags with logo                      $42.00

Hats  plain no logo                          $10.00

It has come to our attention also that people are having difficultly locating Westside Uniform shop. The majority of the shops in the block face Grange Road, however Westside are situated around the corner in Falkirk Avenue. Should you have any difficulties finding the shop please call Amanda at Westside on 0450 224 887.

Seaton High School Visual Arts Program

Seaton High School’s Visual Arts and Innovation Specialist Program – Applications Now Open

Seaton High School’s Visual Arts and Innovation Specialist Program enables students with a passion for the Visual Arts to work with like-minded individuals to develop their artistic skills to a higher level than would normally be expected. This program encourages students to develop their critical and creative thinking skills through an exploration of the applications of emerging technologies (eg laser cutting & etching and additive manufacturing such as 3D printing) in contemporary art. This program falls under the banner of Seaton’s newly acquired status as an Entrepreneurial Specialist School.

Year 7 students are invited to apply for the 2020 program by completing the expression of interest via the following link:

If you have any questions regarding this program, please contact Tom Griffith, Assistant Principal, Emerging Technologies and Specialist Programs [email protected]
