Money Making Market Day

What a great day Money Making Market Day turned out to be!

It turns out that we have some great little salespeople and a fantastic, supportive community.

A special thank you to parents who helped their children set up their stalls and provided goodies for them to sell. It was also fantastic to see so many past pupils coming to support the school.

We made $960 profit!!

Swimming Pool

The pool is open for in-school swimming until the end of the term.

Waahi Koru - Monday, Wednesday, Friday

Waahi Pakari - Tuesday, Thursday, Friday

We would love to open the pool to the community for a hold coin donation on weekday afternoons, but we need a parent volunteer to be at the pool for the afternoon. Please contact Rachael if you are able to volunteer an afternoon.

So far we have had one volunteer, so the pool will be open from 3.15pm on Monday 3 December and Monday 10 December.

Inter-school Athletics Day

We took a team of 7 students to the Inter-school Athletics Day at Kristin School. Our children really got into the spirit of things and learned so much from the teachers and students taking part. A special thank you to Mrs Hart for organising and accompanying the team.

Farewells

Mrs Vicki Hooper is leaving RidgeView at the end of the year due to a change in her personal circumstances. Vicki has been a great help and support to me in my new role as principal. We will miss her calm and friendly demeanour in the office.

Mr Kiran Solanki finishes his year at Ridgeview at the end of this term. We wish him all the best as he continues his teaching career as a fully registered teacher.

Music Lessons in School

AT RIDGEVIEW, MUSIC LESSONS ARE FUN AND EDUCATIONAL

Our school has partnered with the Music Education Centre to offer students the opportunity to have individual (one to one) piano lessons here at school during school time.  The centre’s specialist teachers structure lessons to each student’s needs meaning that the children both enjoy making music, and also develop important life-skills such as confidence, problem solving, co-ordination, and of course the ability to play in instrument.

There are limited space available for students to learn at school in 2019, so to book a time, or to find out more about lessons please contact the Music Education Centre directly on 4445654.

Books belonging to school

Please can you make sure that all reading books and library books are returned to school by Friday 7 December 2019.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Nirvana Fairey Foster who completed her first ever music exam and received a Merit!

Parent Helpers Morning Tea

We are holding morning tea for all our parent helpers on Thursday 6 November at 10.30 and would love you to come along. Please give your name to Vicki for catering purposes if you are able to join us.

Prize-Giving

Prize-giving will be held at school on Thursday 13 December at 5.30pm. All children are expected to be at school in their school uniform. We will have a short ceremony and invite you to bring a picnic supper or buy a sausage to eat afterwards. We are planning on opening the pool after the ceremony until 7pm.

Last day of Term

The last day of the school year is Friday 14 December. On this day, Year 5s and 6s will go to Parakai Springs. Years 1 - 4 will have a supersoaker day in school.

Some Year 6 students like to have their school shirts signed. A notice asking for permission for this will go home soon.

We then invite all parents and community members to join us at 2.50pm for our clapping out ceremony.

Friends of RidgeView School (FORS)

The FORS group plays a vitally important role in our school. We need parents who are passionate about our little school to help organise fun events, raise the profile of the school in the community, apply for grants, and help with raising funds for the school.

Next year we will meet on the first Monday of the month from 6pm to 7pm over a cup of coffee to brainstorm ideas and plan the best ways to help the school. We would love to see you there.
