Action

Action in the PYP is initiated independently by the student as a result of the learning process. Action may be bringing a book or artefact related to the inquiry to school, or student initiated drawings/posters/research. We cele-brate our students’ ACTION every day in our classrooms. If you see your children taking independent action at home encourage them to share their action with their class.
For this inquiry we will be further developing our understanding of the Learner Profile and PYP Attitudes. We will be rewarding students who demonstrate these characteristics by displaying their photo on the Action Board!

Action

Oral Presentation

At the end of this unit of inquiry, students will be preparing and delivering an oral presentation to their class. The presentation will take place early in Term 2. More details to follow!

  • Stories, artefacts and histories of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Culture
  • Impact of settlement on the Aboriginal community

Action

Last term students acted on their learning which was evident in their wonderful oral presentations. It was fantastic to see all students step out of their comfort zone and give informative talks using a range of effective communication skills. Well done to everyone! For this inquiry we encourage students to bring in any artefacts that represent culture to share with the class.

Virtual Reality Incursion

On Thursday 18 May the Year 3 students attended a virtual reality incursion. The students joined in aboriginal dances and entered the land of dreaming through virtual reality headsets.

Action

It has been wonderful to observe the Action initiated independently by our students. During our last unit ‘Where we are in place and time’, students brought in books and aboriginal artefacts from home about Dreamtime stories and Aboriginal culture. The students gained a new perspective on the impact of settlement.

Beaumaris North 'Shark Tank'

At the conclusion of this unit the children will prepare a guided presentation of a new invention to the Beaumaris North ‘Shark Tank’!
