Linda Florenca-Grillo is currently on leave. Reading Recovery and Levelled Literacy Intervention is being replaced by Anna Petrarca. Anna began earlier this week and will continue for the next few weeks. We thank Anna for continuing these programs.
Thank you to Helen Walker for teaching Prep E while Holly Evans has been on leave. Miss Evans will return on Wednesday 9th August.
On Monday, the students participated in The NED Show in the hall. Soupy reinforced NED's three messages that have life-long relevance:
Never give up
Do your best
The children thoroughly enjoyed the presentation and enthusiastically participated. Thank you to the families that purchased yo-yo's, which now enables a school less-fortunate than ours to have The NED Show visit them for free.
On Wednesday 2nd August, Susan McLean gave very informative presentations to our students and in the evening to our parents. We would like to thank Susan for her knowledge and time spent at Galilee. Thank you to the parents and staff who attended the parent session, especially Jessica Casey who looked after children at the school and Joss Coaley who organised the evening. It is great to be able to revise and learn new cyber safety knowledge through experts like Susan.
If you have any feedback, please email Mr Coaley at [email protected]
Jeans for Genes Day
Jeans for Genes Day will be held tomorrow August 4. It is a national event aimed at supporting the work of Children's Medical Research Institute who tirelessly research into genetic defects & childhood diseases in order to give children around the world a better chance of a healthy, happy future! Students may wear casual clothes as long as denim is visible, e.g. jeans, jean jacket, denim headband. Students must wear full school uniform if they choose not to participate. A gold coin donation is required if wearing denim.
This Saturday night, August 5th, our annual Galilee Trivia Night will be held at St Kilda Town Hall. Many parents have put in so much effort and time organising this event and we thank them for that. Thank you also to families who have donated items/services/money or holidays which contribute to our trivia night being so successful. We are looking forward to a great night.
A big thank you to all the students and teachers who took part in our eLearning Day next Friday. The day was a huge success as students took part in creating music videos to some new songs, as well as some classics. The parents and teachers Nutbush dance was a fantastic way to wrap up the day. These videos will be uploaded to next week's newsletter for your entertainment. A big thank you to Mr Coaley for organising the day.
