From the Principal...

Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese's,

"Do all that you do with Love” Saint Therese of Liseiux

It has been a very hectic time at St Therese's with sporting events, drumming rehearsals and disco dancing! More than 126 students, brothers and sisters and some very groovy mums had a great time busting a move on the dance floor. Please enjoy the following photos of our latest school disco with DJ Carlos Sanchez in the House!

Catholic School Parents Victoria

Catholic School Parents Victoria is offering parents from schools located in the Diocese of Sale the opportunity to attend a community conversation regarding key areas of parent engagement and parent leadership in education. The event is free and includes a catered lunch. It will be held at St Francis Xavier College in Beaconsfield on Saturday 7th September from 11:00am till 12:00pm followed by lunch. For more information please see the Community Market Place section of this newsletter.

Parking reminders

It was brought to my attention that some parents are not parking their cars responsibly outside the school. Please remember that we share a limited number of parking bays outside the school. It is appreciated if cars can be parked in the safest possible way. It has been noticed that some parents insist on double parking while their children walk between cars to get to their own. As you can imagine this is a dangerous practice and could end in disaster! Lastly, please do not walk or encourage your children to walk through the vehicle gate. Once again this is a safety concern. I thank you for your cooperation in these matters.

Book Fair Sale is now on

The Book Fair is on sale now in the library. Teachers will take their classes to the library to browse through the books and will bring home a Wish List. Remember this is exactly that... a Wish List and parents are under no obligation to buy the books.  The Fair will be opened all week before and after school if parents are interested in visiting with their children.

On Thursday, August 22, we have our Book Week Parade / Grandparents-Special Friends Day. All students are invited to come to school dressed as their favourite book character. Grandparents or Special Friends will be welcomed into the classrooms and the library. Morning Tea is provided for our special guests. I am looking forward to seeing the wonderful costumes on a truly fun day!

Father's Day celebrations

A reminder that the Father's Day stall is on next Wednesday, August 28. On Thursday, August 29 dads, grandparents or special friends are invited to our Father's Day Breakfast. Bacon and egg rolls will be available from 7:00am till 9:00am. I look forward to seeing you there.

School Closure Day: Friday, August 30

Don't forget the school will be closed on Friday, August 30. The staff will be involved in professional learning with Dr Sr Margaret Caswell who will be speaking on teaching scripture in schools. The staff from St Agatha's and St Thomas the Apostle will join us.

Yours in partnership.

Michelle Bruitzman
