President's Message

Just a quick note to say that I'm super excited to be a part of such a creative, enthusiastic and dedicated team and I'm really looking forward to working with you all to further build upon the already stellar efforts that you have all made to date.
A special shout out to Venessa Imeson (last year’s P&F president) and to Karen Inman who has been in a care taker role for the beginning of 2017.

They have worked tirelessly with our community, to benefit our school and children, doing a tremendous job to date. I'm sure you'll agree that we are very happy to have both women on board, with us still.

Sonya Rule

New executive committee

President: Sonya Rule.

Sonya has a son, Justin in grade 2 and a daughter, Sophie who will be starting prep next year. She has also taken on the joint role of 2018 fete organiser, which is well underway. Sonya is full of enthusiasm for her new roles and has many great ideas to continue the success of MPS P&F.

Vice President: Heidi Lonergan.

Heidi has two boys at Moorabbin PS, Will in grade 4 and Sam in grade 2, has been part of the P&F for a number of years and is embracing her new duties as VP.

Both women are looking forward to an exciting couple of years and encourage any interested parents to attend the monthly meetings to see what we all get up too. If you can't make the meetings please feel free to approach them in the playground or through the P&F email [email protected] with any ideas or questions that you have.

The main focus of our fundraising efforts this year and next are to raise enough money to build a new playground at the front of the school, to replace the current wooden one.

Social Media

There are many ways to keep up with MPS news on social media. We have a public Facebook page for all our fundraising events,

Moorabbin Primary School Events @MoorabbinPrimarySchoolEvents

The school also has a closed account for MPS families. DO NOT search under groups but rather as if searching for a friend to find this page. Submit a friendship request and once you have been identified as a MPS family you will be approved,

Moorabbin Primary https://www.facebook.com/moorabbin.primary.5?fref=nf

You can also request to follow our instagram account @moorabbin.ps

And of course the school web page is a wealth of information and the links to social media

What's on

Events held

Mother's day stall

Date: Friday 12th May

Amt raised: $440 - These funds will cover costs for the school disco in Term 3

There were some beautiful things at the stall this year, for the children to purchase for the special women in their lives.

It was great to see some dads helping to run the stall this year, thank you to everyone who helped, a special mention to Venessa Imeson for leading the event.

Science fair cake stall

Date: Wednesday 17th May

Amt raised: $640 - Some of these funds will purchase prizes for the school art show.

We asked for help and you, our fantastic community, answered. With very short notice you gave us your time and your baked goods.

So many delicious cakes, biscuits, cupcakes, honey joys and slices were donated.

Many thanks to the parents who volunteered their time to set up and run the stall, these events could not be a success without you.

Comedy Gala

Date: Saturday 3rd June

Amt raised: $10,000 - To go towards the cost of the new playground at the front of the school.

The weekly meetings were over. Donations sourced, collected and wrapped.  The school hall was decorated in fairy lights, bollards and a red carpet. Beer was in the keg and champagne on ice, it was Saturday June 3rd.

One by one, people wearing a touch of sparkle walked the red carpet and arrived at the Moorabbin Comedy Festival. For the first hour guests mingled and placed bids on the silent auction items, and then it was show time! Five comedians, straight from the International comedy scene to Worthing Road Moorabbin, to make us laugh. And laugh we did! Josh Earl, host of Spicks and Specks emceed with his hilarious guitar renditions. Following him were Natalie Harris, Matt Stewart, Zack Dyer (aka Trevor) and the headliner Danny McGinlay. Their stories were perfectly pitched and not a joke went by without laughter from the audience.

Noel Susay and Paul Sibley from Buxton Real Estate came along and ran a very exciting live auction. The main Artwork prize from the auction will soon be displayed at school so keep your eyes open for that.

After the comedy had finished, without missing a beat, the floor was cleared and The Foxy Morons cranked out the tunes keeping the party alive for the next hour.

We drew the raffle, silent auction prizes went to the highest bidders and finished up for the night. With our cheeks still hurting from laughing so much and with full hearts, we were thrilled to learn that we raised $10,000!!! Thank you to Noxia and Karmen for all of your hard work behind the scenes. Thank you to the incredible sponsors and to everyone who helped source the donations, set up the hall and clean up at the end. What an incredible community we have at MPS and we’re sure the next social event will be just as fun.

Many thanks,

Carolyn, Ange and Jo.
