Science fair cake stall
Date: Wednesday 17th May
Amt raised: $640 - Some of these funds will purchase prizes for the school art show.
We asked for help and you, our fantastic community, answered. With very short notice you gave us your time and your baked goods.
So many delicious cakes, biscuits, cupcakes, honey joys and slices were donated.
Many thanks to the parents who volunteered their time to set up and run the stall, these events could not be a success without you.
Date: Saturday 3rd June
Amt raised: $10,000 - To go towards the cost of the new playground at the front of the school.
The weekly meetings were over. Donations sourced, collected and wrapped. The school hall was decorated in fairy lights, bollards and a red carpet. Beer was in the keg and champagne on ice, it was Saturday June 3rd.
One by one, people wearing a touch of sparkle walked the red carpet and arrived at the Moorabbin Comedy Festival. For the first hour guests mingled and placed bids on the silent auction items, and then it was show time! Five comedians, straight from the International comedy scene to Worthing Road Moorabbin, to make us laugh. And laugh we did! Josh Earl, host of Spicks and Specks emceed with his hilarious guitar renditions. Following him were Natalie Harris, Matt Stewart, Zack Dyer (aka Trevor) and the headliner Danny McGinlay. Their stories were perfectly pitched and not a joke went by without laughter from the audience.
Noel Susay and Paul Sibley from Buxton Real Estate came along and ran a very exciting live auction. The main Artwork prize from the auction will soon be displayed at school so keep your eyes open for that.
After the comedy had finished, without missing a beat, the floor was cleared and The Foxy Morons cranked out the tunes keeping the party alive for the next hour.
We drew the raffle, silent auction prizes went to the highest bidders and finished up for the night. With our cheeks still hurting from laughing so much and with full hearts, we were thrilled to learn that we raised $10,000!!! Thank you to Noxia and Karmen for all of your hard work behind the scenes. Thank you to the incredible sponsors and to everyone who helped source the donations, set up the hall and clean up at the end. What an incredible community we have at MPS and we’re sure the next social event will be just as fun.
