Multipurpose Centre Opening

Heritage College Officer campus unveils new Multi-Purpose Centre

We warmly invite you to visit Heritage College for a morning on Tuesday, 6th August from 9:30am to commemorate the Multipurpose Centre grand opening at the Officer campus.

Now in its 20th year, Heritage College has been an integral part of the local community. Beginning in the City of Casey and expanding into the Cardinia shire in 2009, Heritage College continues to expand its infrastructure in response to the development in the area and high enrolment growth. To commemorate the newest facility developed in line with Kneeler Design Architects, Edmanson Constructions, Heritage College School Council, and Hon. Jason Wood, MP, we invite you to share in the unveiling of the Multipurpose Centre (MPC) located on the Officer campus.

Featuring a state of the art basketball court, shower and dressing room facilities, the MPC will provide students with the opportunity to hone their skills in sportsmanship. Utilised by all areas of campus, from Early Learning through to Secondary, the MPC will be a hub of activity throughout the year for events such as awards nights, assemblies and chapel services. Outside of school hours, it will host basketball clinics for the Heritage College basketball team.

With local Members of Parliament, dignitaries, principals and staff from both current and previous years, this is an opportunity to see the fulfilment of many years planning and re-connect with the vibrant Heritage College community. During the morning, light refreshments will be available and you are welcome to explore the campus on tour.

RSVP your attendance here for catering purposes.

Winter Festival of Faith

Last week, Heritage College held it’s Winter Festival of Faith program (WFOF). For the whole week, our school community gathered together daily to sing praise songs, pray, and hear the word of God. We were blessed to have Pastor Daniel Maher share with our primary students and Pastor Vadim Butov with our secondary team.

The theme for the week was “My Christ Rules” and was based on Colossians 3:15 where it encourages his followers to allow God’s peace to rule in their lives. Pastor Daniel talked about King Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in Daniel 2 and touched on topics such as; Identity, Purpose, Faith, Acceptance, and Confidence. The primary students thoroughly enjoyed the daily activities Pastor Daniel had them participate in.

Pastor Vadim shared stories of himself growing up in what was then Soviet Ukraine. He grew up an atheist but later discovered God in his search for the meaning of life. His love of study and books made him stumble across a special historical book called the Bible. At age 15, he decided to let the Lord rule over his life and he has never turned back on that decision. Pastor Vadim ended the week with a special call inviting students to let Christ rule their heart.

ICAS 2019

ICAS is an independent, skills-based assessment program which recognises and rewards student achievement. ICAS is unique, being the most comprehensive generally available suite of academic assessments for primary and secondary school students. The assessments comprise eight Digital Technologies tests, eleven English tests, eleven Maths tests, eleven Science tests, six Spelling tests and ten Writing tests.

Heritage College will again be offering to administer these tests to students and families who choose to participate. The tests are voluntary, each incurring a cost to the family and will be scheduled on specific dates, as outlined below. If you would like your child to participate in one or more tests, please collect an enrolment form from either Campus Office and return it with payment by Friday, 16th August 2019.

More information is available on their website:  https://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/about.

If you have further questions regarding registering or administration of the tests, please contact your child’s Deputy Principal.

Heritage College Performs Well Again!

The students were very excited for the day of competition to come; so excited that some even arrived extra early to make sure that they were at school on time, a whole hour and a half early! In actual fact, the whole group of Year 3 & 4 students were very excited the entire day as they played five games of basketball against other schools in the Basketball Victoria Bulla Hoop Time Competition.

Throughout the day, I kept hearing, are we going to go to Regionals? Is there a final that we will play? Unfortunately for this group, there was no such opportunity as they were ‘Rookies’, but perhaps there might be next year. Each student that participated performed well and showed our school values in an encouraging manner. The closest score that we had all day was 6-3 and the greatest we had was 22-0. Both teams involved won all their games and showed great sportsmanship on the court. Even if they wouldn’t let you know it, all the students felt tired at the end of the day. A very successful day indeed!

Festival of Faith

Last week the students in the Early Learning Centre joined the primary school students to celebrate the Festival of Faith. The festival had a theme of ‘My Christ Rules’ based on the cooking show ‘My Kitchen Rules.’ The children especially enjoyed the food-themed ice breakers and the early learning centre surprised the crowd when our very own kinder representative Zoey won a competition moving dry pasta from one table to another using only a dry piece of spaghetti with one of the prep children.

It was delightful to share in praise with Pr Lagi Limu and the school with the children really involving themselves in the singing of the songs each morning. Pr Daniel Maher ‘The King’ was the week’s guest speaker and captivated the attention of the children with his creative way of sharing the word of God.

It was a great opportunity for the children who don’t regularly have the chance to attend chapel with us on Friday mornings, to really be involved in the sharing of the school’s message of Christian faith beyond our classroom encounter and it was thoroughly enjoyed! Just look at the delight on their faces- only capturing a small fraction of the atmosphere that they experienced over the week.
