Principal's Report

Congratulaions, Farewell and Thank you

I had the great pleasure of being at last night's Year 6 Graduation Ceremony. As they have all year, our Graduating class for 2017 represented the school and themselves with maturity, friendliness and a real sense of joy.  We will miss all of our graduating students and look forward to watching you from afar as you grow and succeed in the world.

Every year we also say farewell to other Marlborough families who are leaving our school.  I wish all of you the very best in the future, welcome you to come and visit us again and hope that all of your children have continued success with their education.

In addition to the teachers mentioned in last week's newsletter we have some Education Support (ES) Staff members who will be leaving us at the end of this year.  Jenny Syme, Janine Carrington and Nicole Towler have all shown great dedication and care to the students at Marlborough and I would like to thank them for their hard work at the school.  I wish you all the very best with your future endeavours.

Jane Barnes will finish her role as an ES staff member and our Canteen Manager as she has successfully applied for the Out of School Hours Care Co-ordinator position here at Marlborough.  Congratulations on this appointment Jane, we are sure you will do a great job running our OSHC program.

Thank you to all the students, staff and families of Marlborough that make this a very special community.  You all have made an important contribution towards the positive culture of learning at our school. I hope you all have a wonderful holiday break and in your own way get to celebrate this special time of the year with those that you care about.

Farewell to Rob Peterson

It is with great sadness we say good bye to Rob Peterson. He has been involved with Marlborough primary school for more than ten years and we have been extremely lucky to have him as part of the community. Our students have been so lucky to have their own coach during school time and also been able to use the local tennis courts without any cost. Rob is a most caring and devoted coach and his enthusiasm towards tennis is amazing. His dedication to our students in sharing this passion is outstanding and we have had many students thriving under his coaching. Rob has devoted many hours to our school free of charge and this has included weekends for Hot Shots, even when he moved to Carnegie. We cannot thank you enough for your support of our school, you are an amazing man and we wish you all the best for the future.

Next is the speech written by our Sports Captain , Adam E about Rob.

Golf Program

During Grades 3 to 6 PE lessons students have been learning the skills of Golf.  The students participated in four sessions, conducted by Geoff George who works at Glen Waverley Golf Course. and is a member of Golf Victoria.

In the first lesson students learnt the basic rules of grip using the giant swing.  Lessons 2 and 3 covered chipping, putting and driving.  The final lesson involved a skills session which tested students' improvement.

If anyone is interesting in pursuing golf, contact your local golf club. There is a flyer below for Glen Waverley, which offers Junior Tiger Program for ages 5-16.
