Principal's Message

Welcome Back to Term 3

Welcome back to another busy and exciting term! The week has begun relatively smoothly and it has been great to see the students and teachers settle back into routines so quickly. I have enjoyed my time today visiting and catching up with students’ holiday news with stories of movies, play dates, play centres and for some very fortunate families - time away to warmer places. We also welcomed back to our community Mr Stefan Beal in 3/4B as he establishes routines and expectations with the students and reconnects with families. For the first four weeks of the term Mr Beal will be working Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Mrs Schmauder will be covering 3/4B on Monday and Friday. This is a work schedule that has been negotiated for a smooth transition for Mr Beal with minimal disruption to all our other programs at MPS. If you have any queries about this arrangement please come and have a chat with me.

There was a wonderful “buzz” in 1/2B as Mrs Ashlea Alderson returned back to MPS after her maternity leave. She felt so grateful to have had such a warm welcome from the students and families.

Over the holiday period we had a number of children and their families tend to the chickens and our gardens.   We are so appreciative of all the effort and time that was provided to make sure all the chickens were well fed and watered.  We thank you so very much!

Year 3 - 4 Camp

This year we are off to Camp Munyung in Mount Eliza and during this time staff attending will be Mr Leeden, Mrs McKenna, Mrs Kelly, Mrs Angelides and two student teachers. Mr Beal will be at school covering the Science and PE program as he will not be attending the Camp this year.

It is with sadness that I inform our community that we have had a number of special people pass away over last term and over the holidays. Three beloved brothers who were uncles to three of our students and their families and a very special mother and grandmother to one of our families. Our thoughts go out to all of these families during this extremely difficult period of time.

Staff News

I am informing our community that Mrs Kakavoules will be on Long service leave from July 28th - 1st September. There will be a slight adjustment to the Art program but it will continue to run for all classes.

Mr Fang will be on leave for the first week of Term 3 and our Mandarin program will recommence Monday 24th July.

Finally, I wish you inform everyone that I will be taking my Long Service Leave this term from 21 August - 15 September. It coincides with my husband’s 50th birthday and we will be in attendance for his youngest cousins wedding overseas on the island of Crete. It has taken almost 12 months of planning but every single cousin from various parts of the “globe”, and surviving aunts and uncles will be in attendance. While I am on leave, the leadership team will support Mrs Schmauder to run the school. I have submitted this information to Region and this has been accepted. So it is with great confidence and kudos that Debbie will take the role of Acting Principal. I know that I will leave the school in great hands!

There will be a lot on this term with the Art show next week, the Annual school concert, welcoming new families to our community and the arrival of 6 Chinese International students in Years 3-6 along with all that Term 3 brings!

I look forward to catching up with everyone over the coming weeks. Have a great start to the term.
