Carmel Purdey

Well we are at the end of another term.

We are all looking forward to the Footy Day on Friday. Lots of fun activities have been planned by the staff. I am sure it will be a great day.  The Grade 3 / 4's are taking part in Hooptime  on Thursday. Good Luck to you all!

Annual Review Meetings for Staff

I have recently met individually with each of our staff members for the ‘Annual Review Meetings’. This is a great opportunity to affirm the achievements of staff and to identify their next area for development and learning. We do this for teaching staff by exploring teachers’ practice under the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. You can see these standards at

I have been impressed by the commitment of St Agnes' staff, their knowledge of our children and of the curriculum we teach. I thank all teaching staff for their hard work with our children. I also sincerely thank all our Education Support Staff who care for and assist our children in so many ways.

Clear Plan for Future Development at St Agnes'

I strongly encourage all parents and carers to complete the school parent surveys via the CEMSIS link which has been sent to you. It is important for the school to have this feedback to inform our future development and our new School Improvement Plan. There will be a clear direction set for

St Agnes' School during the very rigorous Review process which will be coordinated by the new principal early next year. The data from the parent survey is an important facet of the material considered during the Review. This survey is your opportunity to have your say.

I wish you all a happy, safe and restful break from school during the coming school holiday period.

With my best wishes,

Carmel M Purdey

In 2019, our school is participating in Catholic Education Melbourne School Improvement Surveys (CEMSIS). CEMSIS is an annual process where schools listen to the thoughts and feelings students, families and staff have about how their school can improve. These surveys help inform the ongoing improvement of schools across the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

One of the main goals of the family survey is to identify the strengths and areas for improvement in our school.  CEMSIS data benefits everyone within our school and provides valuable community insights on areas that each school can focus on. Our school believes it is important to encourage families to have a voice and contribute to shaping the ongoing improvement of the school.

This Friday 20th September is the last day to participate in the CEMSIS survey.

End Of Term

The library will be doing some spring cleaning taking place this week.

Please have a look at home for library books and bring them back to school before Thursday 19th September.

Below are some ideas.

Top 10 places to find your child’s lost library books:

  1. Between the bed and the wall
  2. Between the bed and the other wall
  3. Shoved in the back of the bookcase (usually flat   against the back, especially for small books)
  4. Underneath the couch (keeping them handy!)
  5. The bathroom (obvious reasons)
  6. In the car
  7. Inside the dresser
  8. Under the bed
  9. Between the sheets
  10. On the very bottom of their shared toy box!!

What’s the weirdest place you ever found a missing book?

Thank you,

Julie Gonzales
