Good Afternoon Lakes Families,
This week has seen the culmination of significant work tasks and showcases beginning with the excellent Science Fair on the MY Campus. The students in STEM have confidently and diligently presented projects that engaged and thrilled the large numbers of families who attended this annual event. Our STEM students have definitely been active in their pursuits both at school and in the community by presenting and participating at the opening of the Whittlesea Tech School which was attended by many education dignitaries and the Education Minister, the Honourable James Merlino who was suitably impressed with his interactions and conversations with students.
A number of assessment tasks have been due for completion in a range of subjects and it has been pleasing to see students working away with energy and enthusiasm this week. In addition, we have had a number of students successfully participating in the Invigorate Program, the ToolBox Tradie Program at Peter Lalor, the MY School Leaders have participated in the cluster program hosted by the City of Whittlesea and our students showcased our Years 7-9 Inquiry at the Whittlesea Principal Network. Congratulations to the large number of students who have made a significant contribution to the various programs. They have demonstrated all of the Lakes Values with distinction and we are all extremely proud of their achievements. Thank you to the staff who work tirelessly in enabling our students to interact with the wider community and gain valuable experiences, networks and opportunities that are so beneficial to the complete learning experience. Finally, congratulations to all students and staff for participating in the Footy Colours Day!
Kerrie & I had the chance to attend the NMR Athletics Regional Finals at Meadowglen. We were inspired by the performances of our students who competed magnificently amongst some very skilled opponents. I am pleased to announce that Tavite in Year 7 has advanced to the final round which is the State Finals in Shot Put - well done and good luck!
In the sporting context, we are now at the tender stage for the school oval. Tenders will need to be submitted by the end of the term for review and applicant shortlisting. We are very excited about this project and the facilities that will be derived for our students going forward. More to come in this space…
A reminder that Parent Teacher Interviews are next Tuesday after school. All bookings are to be made through SENTRAL and please be prompt so that other families are not inconvenienced. On Early Years, we will also be holding our Celebration Of Learning evening which runs parallel to the interviews. Families are encouraged to visit the Pods and engage in the learning achievements for students this term.
We are also pleased to announce that rehearsals for our School Production Shrek is progressing extremely well. Tickets are available at the General Office of the MY Campus and almost 50% have already been purchased. The production is at Plenty Ranges on 23 & 24 October. We are looking forward to two wonderful evenings.
School Celebration Assemblies are on next Friday on both EY & MY and school finishes at 1:15 pm.
Have a great weekend! Thank you for your wonderful support!!!!
