Dear Parents and Friends of St Therese’s,
World Teachers Day
Each year in October, the world celebrates teachers. Our teachers demonstrate such dedication to the children in their care and often the extra work they do goes unnoticed. I hope that this week parents and children take some time to consider the amazing and talented staff at St Therese’s. On behalf of the St Therese’s community, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to each and every staff member at our school for their kindness, dedication and professionalism!
Exciting News for our Library
Firstly, I would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our Parents and Friends committee who have worked tirelessly to raise money for our school. I am pleased to announce that the furniture for the Library and STEM space will be installed next Friday November 2.
In order to be ready for the furniture delivery, we will be closing the library from Monday October 29 and it will reopen by Tuesday November 13. During this time, children will be unable to borrow library books. I look forward to sharing with you photos of the new spaces created by the contemporary furniture.
Just a reminder that our Parent and Friends meeting is on Tuesday October 23 at 2:15pm. I hope to see many parents in attendance!
Sumo Teacher vs Sumo Teacher
Have you heard about the big event coming to St Therese’s? On Thursday November 8 during Recess/Lunch breaks the teachers are going head to head as Sumo Wrestlers! Ms Joy Andrews, our fabulous Japanese Teacher is organising this event to raise money for the Tsunami that has badly affected Japan. Keen an eye out for more information in future newsletters! This event is one NOT to be missed…
I am so very proud of all the students at St Therese’s and the Taiko drummers and dancers are no exception. They have been very busy practising and improving their skills. Later in the term, these children will ‘hit the road’ and are going to perform at several schools as well as at the Catholic Education Office in Warragul. We wish them all the best and look forward to hearing about their experiences in future newsletters.
This week, our Foundation, Year One and Year Two students began their swimming program. The program is on each Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday for this week and next week. Wednesdays there is no swimming to provide an opportunity for students to rest. Learning to swim is such an important skill, one that can save lives!
I hope you all have a safe and happy week. I leave you with this prayer for our teachers…
“Gracious God, smile upon our teachers today and
grant them every grace and blessing.
May God’s wisdom guide them wherever they walk,
and encourage them each day.
