 Principal Post

From the Principal. . .

Dear Families,

Happy Easter! I hope that you have all had a wonderful break from school routine and are feeling re-energised and ready for another productive term here at St John Vianney's.  We were so blessed to have such beautiful weather across this past fortnight.  Certainly I hope that you were able to spend some valuable time with family and friends amongst all the Easter Festivities.  To those celebrating Easter this week we hope it is a special and holy time for you all.

We particularly remember all our Sri Lankan families within our community and those across the world as they grieve after the tragedies in their homeland on Easter Sunday. You and your extended families are all in our prayers and  in our hearts.  May we all continue to pray for and model peace and love within our world.

Easter Service

To commemorate our Easter; the Risen and triumphant Lord who brings hope to us all,  we invite everyone to a prayer service this Friday at 11:45am in the church.  May we be open to recognising the Risen Lord amongst us within our families, within our community and those most needing our care and compassion.

Anzac Day

To commemorate Anzac Day the students  gathered  today  for a short service.  It is an important time for our students and community members to reflect on the  sacrifice of so many to allow us the freedoms of today. May we aspire to be a people of peace.  We hope that tomorrow all people will spend a moment of remembrance for the men and women  who have served and continue to serve our country during times of war, conflict and peace.

We welcome our new students and their families who began here this week. Kevin, Hollie, Nethvin, and Nethma. May their time at St John Vianney's be most enjoyable, full of learning and support.  May they and their families develop a strong sense of belonging to our community.

Wendy Seabrook our past secretary, will be not be returning to St John Vianney's and we wish her well for her future. We are delighted that Miss Leyla Sivic, our current secretary will continue in this role for the remainder of the 2019 school year!

2nd Term - Winter Uniform

A reminder that in Term 2 students should be wearing Winter Uniform. I attach again the details of our Uniform Supplier - BuxWear.

Hats are optional in terms 2 and 3.

Car Parking

As we begin our term a heartfelt reminder to all families to please be patient and obey all parking signs and speed limits both within and around our school. We need to ensure all members of the community are safe! Please  be mindful and considerate of all neighbours. Thank you

Open Days & Enrolment (2020)

Thank you to all existing families who have another child beginning next year and have returned their enrolment forms. If you have not done so, I  ask that this be done as a matter of priority.

This assists us in planning and knowing how many enrolment places we can offer to new families.

We have another Open Day next Monday 29th April and also one on Friday May 3rd - 9am & 10am Tours.

National Walk Safely to School Day on 17th May

National Walk Safely to School Day on 17th May

Now in its 20th year, National Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) is an annual event when all Primary School children will be encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a Community Event seeking to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment.

This year St John Vianney's will participate in this wonderful initiative. Our Parents and Friends are organising fresh fruit from some of our local shops. This will be available when the students get to school.

We encourage everyone to take part in Walk-to-School-Day on 17th May 2019.

Remember: Part-way is OK!!! This means that you can park a little further away from school and walk to school from there.

We are looking forward to celebrating Walk-to-School-Day with you and our students.

More information to follow.

EARN and LEARN Stickers

EARN and LEARN Stickers

St John Vianney’s is getting ready to jump on board with the 2019 Woolworths Earn & Learn program, starting Wednesday May 1st- Tuesday June 25th 2019.

The ideas is … we collect the stickers from Woolworths when we shop there, bring them to school, stick them onto the collection sheets (available in students’ classrooms) then put them in the collection box located in the school foyer… EASY!

The stickers will go towards purchasing more musical instruments, books and equipment for SJV and that’s got to be a good thing. Please help us by sending your stickers to school.

Thanks for your support,

From the Specialist Teachers & Performing Arts Captains.

Coats For Kids

Dear parents and families at St John Vianney’s,

Donations, donations, donations!

Do you want an easy way to help communities in need? Are you getting ready for winter this Easter? Then, please keep us in mind!

Coats for Kids is about providing a quick and easy donation service, collecting winter coats and other items for kids who need them.

All you have to do is think of us when you are going through your child’s wardrobe and collect all of last year’s winter gear that is now too small. We are looking for items in good condition like coats, hats, scarves and gloves (Please make sure that the gloves are a pair).

We now have a donation bin in the office.

At the end of each week your school’s Coats for Kids ambassador, Mr Ru, will come and collect the donations and bring them in to be sorted by size, and then passed onto our charities - Best Chance in Glen Waverley and West Welcome Wagon in Sunshine.

If you want to donate some adult jackets or coats, we are happy to accept those as well.

If you have any questions please get in touch with Mr Ru via email

That’s all you have to do!

Kind Regards,

Mr Ru and the team at Coats for Kids
