On Friday, all of the students from Charters Towers Central State School took part in some activities to increase their awareness of how to stop bullying and violence and to support other students who are being bullied or experiencing violence. Everyone made a poster that spoke against bullying and violence or displayed a skill to deal with bullying or violence. Students also wrote down one negative behaviour that they were going to stop doing that could contribute to bullying or violence.
All of the students’ art work was displayed in the hall and we had a whole school assembly where we discussed what bullying was under the framework of the saying – ‘Courage is fire and bullying is smoke.’ Students then went out to the oval to throw their pieces of paper, that had the behaviour they were going to stop written on them, into the fire to seal their promise.
Crazy Hair Day will be held at school on Friday 23rd March to raise money for Shave For A Cure. Beginning at 1:10pm you can get your hair coloured or styled for a gold coin donation. Prep to Year 3 will be under C Block and Year 4 to Year 6 will be in the Tuckshop area. Parents and younger siblings are welcome!! Straight after 2nd break the shave will occur, both Kennys have said if we don't reach $1000 they will still cut some off, so far we have raised $421.15. There is also a 100 board in the office, $1 a square and the prize is a $20 Towers Toys voucher. This will be drawn on Friday.
The Interhouse Cross Country and Fun Run will be held Wednesday morning, 28th March from 9am to 11am. Students who wish to compete in the full cross country will run first and the fun run will be run afterwards. For the cross country, students will run in age groups and the fun run will be run in class groups. There will be a dress up theme for the day with students able to come dressed up as their favourite sportsperson or as a particular type of sporting person eg a tennis or football player or a ballerina. The aim of the day is to have all students involved to the best of their ability and for everyone to come along and have a go.
We will be holding our Positive Behaviour for Learning Fun Day on the last day of term on Thursday, 29th March. Students who have had two or fewer detentions, or have not been sent home or suspended for behaviour will be eligible to take part in the fun activities.
