The Lion King Jnr: Feedback

What an absolutely sensational performance last night, as I'm sure it also was on Wednesday night!

The very obvious amount of dedication, time, effort and joy that went into the production was SO EVIDENT.  As I watched and listened, smiled, laughed or enthusiastically clapped, I kept thinking "WOW!  THIS IS AMAZING!"

The students were wonderful!  Their singing was rousing!  Their acting was terrific!  And their enthusiasm was palpable!

Sincere thanks and many, many congratulations to everyone involved in this production.  The costumes (I can only sew a hankie or a tea towel!), the make-up and hair, the backdrop, the stage settings, the sound, were all fabulous.  XXXX LOVED IT ALL!  And XXXX texted me after the After Party to say XXXX really, really enjoyed that as well.  What a great idea to have an After Party and one that one parent could also attend.

Superb!  A truly wonderful experience.

In gratitude and with ongoing CONGRATULATIONS!

Whole School Curriculum Planning Week

The delivery of a carefully planned, detailed, sequential curriculum, that both supports and challenges our students, is the priority of this school.

This week all teachers have worked collaboratively to prepare the curriculum for Term Four. All planning documentation and resources are prepared by year level classroom teachers and specialist teachers, in advance, to ensure a smooth commencement to Term Four.

Farewell and Happy Retirement to Mrs Julia Jones

We extend a huge thank you to Mrs Julia Jones for her longstanding contribution to Beaumaris PS over many years. Students, teachers and parents extend their best wishes to Julia as she begins a new phase in her life. We hope to see Julia when she has a break between the many adventures with family and friends. Good luck, Julia, we will miss you. Happy retirement!

Dismissal at 2.30pm tomorrow 21st September

A friendly reminder that the students will be dismissed early tomorrow ahead of two weeks holiday to unwind and prepare for Term 4. We hope every enjoys a happy, safe and relaxing break.

Remember: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?

From the Parent club:
BPS FUNDRAISING CAKE STALL
SATURDAY 20 OCTOBER 2018 8am-1pm

This year our annual cake stall is being held on Saturday 20th October outside the IGA at the Concourse. We are asking the whole school to get baking!

You don’t have to be Nigella Lawson to contribute to the stall. Chocolate crackles, mars bar slice and little lolly bags sell just as well as big cakes and slices. Anything gluten free and nut free are huge hits.

Please help this fundraiser be a success for BPS.

At the start of Term 4 we will send home a flyer and labels to attach to your baked goods. Please don’t leave it to others to bake, we need your help too!

Baked goods can be dropped off on:

  • Friday 19th October – from 2:30pm-5pm to the canteen. After 5pm please drop off at a local residence (address can be supplied).
  • Saturday 20th October – from 8am directly to the stall in the Concourse.

Many thanks in advance,

Carlie Fraser and Sally Gallagher (stall co-ordinators)

Snack Shack

The canteen is now closed for the term and will reopen on Wednesday 10th October. Thank you to all the parents and carers who have sent in their availability for the volunteer roster. If any parents are still interested, please email [email protected] by the end of the day. The roster will be circulated by email by the middle of the holiday break. Soup is now finished for the year and will return in Term 2 of 2019. During our warmer terms, fruit cups will be available for ordering via Qkr! to be collected with lunch items. I wish everyone a very happy holiday. Ellie H.

Black Rock Primary School: Big Fun Fete

Level Low Downs

Prep

This week, the Prep students enjoyed walking to East Beaumaris Kinder for a visit. We read stories to the kinder kids, asked them if they had any questions about school and had a play on the kinder play equipment. During our walk, we spotted many signs of spring – flowers blooming, butterflies fluttering and birds singing. Our legs were very tired after such a long walk and we enjoyed a quiet afternoon back at school. Thank you to our parent helpers who came with us.

Year One

The Year One students had a fabulous time with Professor Bunsen. Science is always fun when he comes to visit!

Year Two

The Year 2 children and teachers thoroughly enjoyed the Professor Bunsen Science Show on Monday. The topic was Forces, Motion and Energy (The Science of Toys). Professor Bunsen is a very entertaining and inspiring scientist. His visit concluded our learning of Physical Science through the use of toys to discover the forces acting on them, discover how they move and how they store energy to keep them moving.

Year Three

Year 3 have had a wonderful term conducting experiments, visiting Scienceworks, learning about earth and space and forces, gravity and magnetism.  We have written explanation texts and have discovered some talented poets while learning all about poetry. We have been been busy solving multiplication and division problems, while looking to see if objects are symmetrical.  Have a great holiday spending time with family and friends and we look forward to Term 4 and camp.

Year Four

The last few weeks have been exceptionally busy in Year 4.  Last week we conducted our Expo on our term topic, Science.  It was wonderful to see so many parents attend what was a lovely afternoon.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank the Year 4 parents, we appreciate your help with students conducting some interesting experiments at home during this term. Fractions have been a big focus over the last few weeks. We apologise in advance if your son or daughter suddenly starts mentioning the topic whenever they see an opportunity to point out a fraction!  We encourage a discussion around fractions if an opportunity arises over the holidays.  Fractions play a big part in our everyday lives, for example the AFL plays four quarters of football, yet rugby is played in two halves!

We have also revamped the Growers Garden and next term we hope to harvest some wonderful herbs and vegetables prior to the holiday period.

Year Five

End of Term 3, when did that happen?

This term the Year 5s have been busy since day 1. We have participated in Reach wellbeing workshops which pushed us all out of our comfort zones and also made us laugh. We walked to Mentone Girls' SC and got to explore inside a real science lab and even wear lab coats. Mad About Science came to visit us and we looked at a dog pancreases through a microscope. We ran, threw and jumped at Athletics Day and we even enjoyed a few dress-up days such as Footy Day and Book Week. It has been a jam-packed term but all of the students have worked so hard and now deserve a fabulous holiday.

See you all next term.
