Multipurpose Centre Opening

Heritage College Officer campus unveils new Multi-Purpose Centre

We warmly invite you to visit Heritage College for a morning on Tuesday, 6th August from 9:30am to commemorate the Multipurpose Centre grand opening at the Officer campus.

Now in its 20th year, Heritage College has been an integral part of the local community. Beginning in the City of Casey and expanding into the Cardinia shire in 2009, Heritage College continues to expand its infrastructure in response to the development in the area and high enrolment growth. To commemorate the newest facility developed in line with Kneeler Design Architects, Edmanson Constructions, Heritage College School Council, and Hon. Jason Wood, MP, we invite you to share in the unveiling of the Multipurpose Centre (MPC) located on the Officer campus.

Featuring a state of the art basketball court, shower and dressing room facilities, the MPC will provide students with the opportunity to hone their skills in sportsmanship. Utilised by all areas of campus, from Early Learning through to Secondary, the MPC will be a hub of activity throughout the year for events such as awards nights, assemblies and chapel services. Outside of school hours, it will host basketball clinics for the Heritage College basketball team.

With local Members of Parliament, dignitaries, principals and staff from both current and previous years, this is an opportunity to see the fulfilment of many years planning and re-connect with the vibrant Heritage College community. During the morning, light refreshments will be available and you are welcome to explore the campus on tour.

RSVP your attendance here for catering purposes.

PB4L Report
Week 1

The Prep and Year 1 students have started this term off with a heart for Service! Ms Dennis and Ms Wold caught students in the act of showing Service to our school community by picking up rubbish, opening doors for teachers, carrying things for teachers and welcoming a new friend.

They observed Charity Church Mouse and the Salty choir kids to learn how we can serve Jesus by serving others and that service and praise need to come from your heart. They worked together in small groups to ‘perform’ acts of Service and to make posters about their ideas for showing Service to those around them.

Keep up the great work Preps and Year 1s!!

Online Basics - Keeping Your Child Safe Online

“Your children’s online world is as much a part of their life as offline, so it is crucial that you are as involved in supporting their online wellbeing as you are their physical health. Your skills in rule setting, support, guidance and respect are just as important to helping ensure your kids enjoy positive digital experiences and to help them gain confidence in asking for advice and support. Knowing they are equipped to make sound decisions and manage risks online is so important, especially with the number of internet-enabled devices that can be used without adult supervision.” (esafety.gov.au)

A Retirement Well Earned

It is with sadness that we announce the retirement of Ms Nomi Jackson. Ms Jackson has been an educator for over 40 years, most recently at Heritage College as a classroom and specialist Music teacher.

Ms Jackson has given notice of a full term and will hand over the reins to a new Music teacher at the end of Term Three. We thank Ms Jackson for her years of dedication as a Christian teacher and celebrate with her one last term of teaching.

Please make an effort to pop in to see Ms Jackson on a Tuesday or a Wednesday some time this term to congratulate her on a well deserved retirement. We thank Ms Jackson for her years of dedicated service to our college and to the teaching profession.

Winter On Campus

A blanket of crisp white frost stretched across our campus fields this morning, captivating both students and teachers alike. What an amazing gift from God on such a chilly day.

ICAS 2019

ICAS is an independent, skills-based assessment program which recognises and rewards student achievement. ICAS is unique, being the most comprehensive generally available suite of academic assessments for primary and secondary school students. The assessments comprise eight Digital Technologies tests, eleven English tests, eleven Maths tests, eleven Science tests, six Spelling tests and ten Writing tests.

Heritage College will again be offering to administer these tests to students and families who choose to participate. The tests are voluntary, each incurring a cost to the family and will be scheduled on specific dates, as outlined below. If you would like your child to participate in one or more tests, please collect an enrolment form from either Campus Office and return it with payment by Friday, 16th August 2019.

More information is available on their website:  https://www.eaa.unsw.edu.au/icas/about.

If you have further questions regarding registering or administration of the tests, please contact your child’s Deputy Principal.

From the Secondary Campus

From the Secondary Deputy Principal's Desk

Welcome back to all of our students, parents and staff as we head into Term 3. There’s plenty of events coming up for our secondary students and families, including careers Excursions and Year 10 Pathways information evening. Year 9’s go out on camp mid-term and we get to display our football colours for last day of Term 3. You can read all about what’s coming up on the Term 3 Calendar here.

Talking football colours, and as Melbourne is the AFL capital, I’ve often found myself referring to Term 3 as the Premiership Term.  In leading up to the Grand Finals in September, each team prepares and trains their hardest to give their best effort leading up to the last game of the year. Just like the race to the premiership, we’re ‘warming up’ on campus as we settle into routines of study, lay foundations and get ready for a strong finish in Term 4.

Student accomplishment

I  would personally like to congratulate two of our secondary students, Ammon and Jacob Magraw for competing in the 42km Bravehearts marathon over the holidays. This is a huge effort for both students who undertook the marathon to raise awareness of the Bravehearts Foundation. You can learn more about the work of Bravehearts in preventing child exploitation here

Student Representative Council (SRC)

This is the second year of SRC operating at Officer. We look forward to sharing the proposals submitted by the student body in the second semester of the year to make improvements on campus.

Best wishes for a great term, everyone.
