What a fantastic week at Yarra Road Primary School.

We can't wait to tell you about this year, but first we would like to welcome our new Preps and the new families! We have 48 new Preps. The Preps are very lucky to be partnered up with our lovely grade 5's.
Another welcome to our new staff, Miss Forde who will be working in grade 3/4 and Mrs Shalders who is our new music teacher.
We do many amazing things with the whole school through the year, like- cross-country, production, athletics, school swimming, book week, crazy hair day, super hero day, crazy sock day and footy day. We also do things in our year levels.

Holidays done, classroom ready and now it's time to meet the students and families.
I am Cath Shalders and I'm your new Performing Arts teacher. I am so excited to settle into Yarra Road and work with the Year 3-6 students to in the areas of Drama, Dance, Music and Media. These are such active, creative and energetic areas of the curriculum and I'm looking forward to getting to know each and every one of you, and helping you to grow in confidence and have fun.
As a bit of background about me, I began classroom teaching in my early twenties. After 7 years, I took maternity leave to be with my three beautiful boys, who are now in Years 1, 2 and 4.
During my time away from the classroom, I have worked at various local schools directing and choreographing their school concerts, productions, coordinating Wakakirri items, running Speech and Drama lessons and extracurricular programs.
I love workshopping with students and encouraging them to contribute their ideas. I feel so lucky to have a job where I get a chance to see children grow in confidence and express their creativity. Outside of school, I enjoy boxing, karate, volleyball and netball. I like camping and going to the theatre, and I love cooking.
I will be working Mondays and Wednesdays, and I look forward to meeting all of my students next week.
My name is Miss Forde and I am delighted to be joining the staff at Yarra Road Primary School. 2018 will be my first year teaching and I am looking forward to being part of the school community. During my free time I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, I like going on all kinds of adventures, traveling and going to the beach. I enjoy my sports, in particular netball and love the AFL where I support Carlton. I am excited to be part of the 3/4 level, and looking forward to the fun, laughter and learning to be had.
