Assistant Principal Report Road Safety Around Schools, Recently I received communication from Banyule Council alerting our school community to the actions the council takes in partnership with Victoria Police to ensure the safety of our students on the road. These measures include line marking, parking restriction signs, employing Traffic Officers and contributing to the cost of employing crossing supervisors., The communication also reminds our community that Traffic Officers regularly monitor the areas surrounding schools, issuing Parking Infringement notices where necessary. Common infringements include double parking, parking in restricted areas or for extended periods or parking across driveways., Copies of the brochure “Safety Around Schools” which outline the road safety initiative in more detail is available from Banyule Council, or from the school office., Speaking of safety, I have been informed by the crossing supervisors that there are members of our school community crossing Darebin St at the roundabout with Cape St, instead of using the crossing outside the school. Not only is this less than safe but encourages younger members of our community to copy this behavior., For the safety of our students, and to avoid a fine, I encourage all members of our community to use positive road practices around schools., iPad News, A reminder to parents leasing iPad's this year that these are now available for collection from the school office., If you are still interested in leasing an iPad, please contact the office asap., A reminder also that the 2019 apps list for all year levels is available for download from the ICT blog http://hpsict.global2.vic.edu.au, Lastly, a reminder that student iPads should not have passcodes installed, as this makes it impossible to install required profiles /software and potentially prevents teachers from monitoring iPad content., I will be at the Information sessions on Thursday evening to answer any questions about iPads or anything else school related., That’s all for now,, Graham Jackson, Assistant Principal
