Stem Camp

Stem Camp:

CURIOUS MINDS SUMMER CAMP 2019.

During the December holidays last year I had the opportunity to participate in The Curious Minds Program - a camp aimed at girls in years 9 and 10 who are interested in a career in STEM.

I was able to travel to The Australian National University in Canberra. Where I spent an amazing, action filled week participating in a range of science, mathematical, technological and communication workshops.

The Summer camp was extremely fun and exciting, providing valuable insight into the future careers offered in the STEM industry. I had the opportunity to do a lot of experiments in my chosen areas of study meeting like-minded people who are just as interested in STEM as me.

I’d like to thank Mrs Sharma and the school for giving me the opportunity to attend this unforgettable program.

Year 7 Transition BBQ

Year 7 Transition BBQ

The annual Year 7 Transition BBQ will be held on Tuesday 3rd March from 5pm to 6.30pm. This is a great opportunity for parents to meet some of their child's teachers, ask any questions and meet other parents. All parents are encouraged to head to the Compass Tix link (https://compasstix.com/event/815f54b3-3d49-4617-ad07-f7332337f5dd) to RSVP for this event as soon as possible.

Year 10 -Work Experience

Year 10 - Work Experience
DATES: Monday 22nd June-Friday 26th June 2020.

Communication skills, team work, problem solving, motivation and time management; these are all skills which are essential to have in the workplace and are highly valued by employers. You'll get a chance to develop these skills and more during your work experience placement.

You might think that the only point of doing work experience is for your CV. You probably think you’ll just sit there twiddling your thumbs, or be given a stack of 2,000 envelopes to stuff, stamp and send. Although some work experience does involve doing menial tasks, it can still be very important.

Work experience is a great addition to your CV. It can help you demonstrate your capabilities and commitment to an employer, and can support your cover letter or apprenticeship application by highlighting skills that are both relevant and transferable to the role you’re applying for.  But that’s not all. A period of work experience can add value in a number of other ways.

Here are 5 reasons why you will benefit from a work experience placement:

Gain the skills employers are looking for.

Get a taste of the industry.

Build relationships for the future.

Get ahead of the competition.

Personal Development.

Whom would you vote for the short list? Display will be up soon.
