Mother's Day Celebration today

We hope everyone enjoyed the atmosphere this morning.

Our Junior School Councillors arrived bright and early to help set up and were very friendly, warm and welcoming hosts.

Thanks to Lisa for organising the coffee cart, Cath Lamb for managing the online orders and the catering and Miss Steph Volkov for organising the Junior School Councillors.

Thank you also to Glee Club and Mrs Rothberg for their performance to conclude the occasion.

A terrific team effort.

The coffee cart owner donated $100 to the school.

Mother's Day Stall

Thank you to the parent helpers for the support they gave the students at the Mother's Day stall on Wednesday. There was a lovely selection of gifts and the students had a wonderful time deliberating over which gift was best for their mum or special person. We hope the gifts add to the special attention that all the mothers will receive on Mother’s Day!

Prospective Prep Parent Information Evening

Our Prep teachers delivered an informative presentation to over fifty parents on Monday evening.

The evening began with a visit to the Prep classrooms followed by a presentation in the hall.

Enrolments for Prep 2020 are coming in and we remind our current families to submit their enrolment form before the end of this term.

House Cross Country

We couldn't have asked for a better day. The weather was perfect.

The event went like clockwork thanks to Mr Joe Lilburne, the Year 4, 5 and 6 teachers and parent volunteers.

The students demonstrated their friendly house rivalry as always, with Murray the outright winners on the day. Congratulations to all competitors and good luck to the students who will advance to the next level of competition.

Remember to have a look at the photos of the event on our facebook page.

Three friendly reminders:
1. Education Week Events: Celebrating Careers

Education Week will be celebrated across the state from May 20th to 24th.

The BPS school community is invited to participate in a range of events and activities throughout the week.

Monday 20th May: Grandparents and Special Friends Morning 9.00 - 11.00am

We will begin the morning with a whole school assembly at 9.10am including a performance by Glee Club.

The Parent Club will provide their usual delicious morning tea in the hall from 10.15am. A friendly reminder that the morning tea is for adults only.

There will be books on display in the hall for you to purchase for our library to further enhance our wonderful collection.  Your family name will be recorded in the front of the book acknowledging your generous donation.

Wednesday 22nd May: Dress Up Day - Theme: My Future Profession. The student are encouraged to dress for their chosen future profession. A gold coin donation will be collected by our Junior School Councillors and forwarded to their nominated charity.

Thursday 23rd May: Parent Information Evening-Mathematics 6.30-8.00pm

Sue Fine our Mathematics Consultant will host the evening

2. School Council AGM

Interested parents are invited to attend the School Council AGM in the staffroom on Tuesday 21st at 6.30pm concluding at 7.00pm.

The session will be repeated on Wednesday 22nd from 3.00pm to 3.30pm.

The BPS Annual Report 2018 will be available on the school website following the AGM.

3. NAPLAN Years 3 and 5 14th, 15th and 16th May

Today Year 3 and Year 5 parents will receive an information brochure explaining the NAPLAN program.

The national assessment of literacy and numeracy skills of students in Years 3 and 5 will take place next week on May 14th, 15th and 16th. We ask that students arrive at school on time. This will  enable them to fully benefit from the specific time allocation to complete the assessments each morning.

14th May: Language Conventions and Writing

15th May: Reading

16th May: Numeracy

Gratitude and Mindfulness

What are three things that went well for you today?

What are the best things that happened to you today?

Who are you most grateful for and why?

What are you looking forward to most about tomorrow?

Education Week 19-25 May

Start typing your article in here...

What do you want to be when you grow up? During Education Week we are ‘celebrating careers’ by holding a dress up day on the 22nd of May. All students are encouraged to dress up as their future careers and bring along a gold coin donation. All donations will go towards State School Relief and our school’s World Vision child Fikrey.

Who do we have amongst us? Future plumber? Real estate agent? Train driver? Lawyer? Perhaps a teacher?

Chocolate, Chocolate, Chocolate

Chocolates, chocolates, chocolates. The fete is fast approaching and Term 2 is chocolate donation time. The Junior School Council have done their first collection and 2R is currently the winner. Collections will take place every Friday, but watch out, the JSC are keen to eat them!
