From our School Leaders,

From our Principal,

The house swimming sports were held today at the GSAC complex in East Bentleigh. Our children enjoyed the great day, completed their events in the fine weather and earned house points each time they entered the pool to compete in the events. Thanks to our organising team, the judges and marshals and to the families for their continued support of our great school events.

Today is Valentine’s day. There are many theories as to the origins of this day and most are based on stories and legends from long ago. In our modern society there are on-line messages, cards, floral deliveries and candle lit dinners!!

Our Top Tenn tennis program was held again this morning and there has been a great deal of interest and a really high level of attendance. It is wonderful to see our children enjoying the challenges of mastering their tennis skills. Details about the program can be obtained from the information stand alongside the front office.

Today is National Wear Red Day! A day to raise awareness of heart disease.

While cardiac arrest can strike anyone at any time or age, survival rates increase by over 75% when an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) is within reach. The Australian Hearts organisation is campaigning to see defibrillators mandated in the workplace, with the ultimate goal to see to it that 90% of Australians are never more than three minutes away from an AED. Our school has a defibrillator in the main foyer and our staff are trained in the use of this important piece of life saving equipment. I just hope and pray we never have to use it!!

The Camps, Sports and Excursions Fund (CSEF) provides payments for eligible students to attend activities like:

  • school camps or trips
  • swimming and school-organised sport programs
  • outdoor education programs
  • excursions and incursions.

The payments amount for 2020 is:

  • $125 per year for eligible primary school students

Payments are made directly to the school and are tied to the student. Applications can be received over term one and two. If the claim is not made in time, there is no going back.  Claims must be made before the end of term 2!   Payments are for the application year and cannot be claimed for previous years.

The CSEF payment cannot be used towards voluntary school charges, books, stationery, school uniforms, before/after school care, music lessons, or formals/graduations.

Year 7 and Prep students in government schools who receive the fund automatically qualify for  support for school uniforms, but you must contact the school if you require the service. For more information regarding this initiative, see State Schools' Relief.

The application form can be downloaded from the link below, or collected from our office.

From our Parents' Committee,

A word from your PC President.

Please join us on Tuesday, February 18 at 7.00pm in the BER for the Parents’ Committee AGM. All office bearers positions become vacant and we must fill them on the night for the PC to continue doing it's part for CJC. If you are a registered member you can nominate to become the next President, Secretary or Treasurer for this year, by completing a Nomination Form. It isn’t scary at all as we have all the guidelines, event checklists and procedures ready to give you and our CJC Leadership will be behind you supporting you the entire way but without YOU it may not happen! All current registered members will have been emailed this form in case they wish to nominate for a position so please return this form by Monday 17th, 5.00pm to For anyone that hasn’t registered yet, you can still do so by completing a 2020 Registered Members Form. I hope to see as many parents at the AGM as possible and plan for it to be a fairly quick event so you can get back home to spend the evening with your families. We look forward to welcoming you on the night.

Katrina Goodrich

PC President

Don’t forget to become a 2020 Registered PC Member

Make sure you become a Registered Member of the Parents' Committee for 2020. All past memberships expire on Tuesday February 18th at the AGM so we need you to join again now. This year our hope is to get every parent, carer or guardian of all our students at CJC to join the PC. It is super easy to do - just complete the Members Registration Form, found at the end of this section and email it to so we can welcome you onto our team. You aren’t committing to anything yet, although you certainly can if you want to, however membership is required to nominate for vacant PC positions, to vote at the upcoming AGM and to attend & vote at the General Meetings and we want as many new faces as possible to join to make this year the best yet. Join today so you will always be one of the first to hear of PC plans and events... You get to become involved, have fun and partner with the school and together we will raise the much needed funds to improve facilities and areas for all our children…plus our kids love to see us involved!  Without YOU it may not happen!

You’re invited to join us.

There are many ways you can help out the Parents’ Committee as we are always needing motivated and enthusiastic parents willing to work together and support each other positively, so have you considered joining one of the teams that run things throughout the year? There is something for everyone and we want YOU to join us. Please send a quick note to to let us know you are interested in helping out one, or more, of the following areas (as little or as much as much as you can spare even if that is just one hour a term) so your name can be passed onto one of out wonderful coordinators. The teams we need your assistance with with are:

  • Fundraising - Sponsorship & Donations
  • Lunch Food Items
  • Second-hand Uniform Shop
  • Cake Stalls
  • PC Events

Don’t forget to also let us know if you are interested in becoming a Coordinator for any of the above teams. These are shared roles so you will always have back up, aside from the PC President and School Leadership.

Class Convenors

We would love to hear from anyone interested in being the Class Convenor for your class. It is a fantastic opportunity to get to know other families and is vital to help communicate information between your class teacher and the other parents as well as shout outs for help from the Parents’ Committee. We already have class convenors for Prep A, Prep B, Prep C & Prep D, 1/2A, 1/2C, 1D, 2F and 2G but there are still 10 classes that need one and it is very simple, with a guide to assist you, so please email now if you can fill the spot for your class. We still need only 2 more for the Junior Classes being, 1/2B and 1 E and we need 8 more for the Senior Classes being 3/4B, 3D, 4F, 4G, 5/6B, 5/6C, 5D, and 5E. Let’s get these filled over the weekend!

Parents needed to sell Icy Poles.

We need 4 parent volunteers from the Class 3E to sell the icy poles after school next Friday, February 21st from 3.30 pm to 3.45 pm. Super easy and quick to do and your kids will love to see you make all their classmates happy so if you can help out please let your class convenor Stephanie Avanzie (Timothy’s Mum) know ASAP.

The Parents of CJC FaceBook Group is a quick and easy way to be kept updated on upcoming events or last minute requests for volunteers and a great place for the sale of outgrown uniform items. Please join and don’t forget to become a Registered Member of the PC as we always look forward to welcoming new members who are interested in building community connections and shaping our school.

Improving safety around our schools

Keeping our kids safe as they get to and from school is everyone’s responsibility

As kids come to and from school it’s important for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists to be aware and take extra care during these busy times. Even a small reduction in speed could save a child’s life.

To help keep our kids safe, it’s important for drivers to:

  • slow down in school speed zones during school times
  • be extra cautious around schools
  • be aware that young children can be unpredictable and difficult to see.

Kids can stay safe by:

  • learning about road safety – resources include Kids on the Move.
  • practicing crossing the road with parents.
