Enrolment of Siblings for 2018

A further reminder enrolment documents are  available from the office for siblings of current MPW students commencing school in 2018.

Staff Profile

Gini Merange

Gini commenced at MPW a few weeks ago and is impressed with the learning abilities of the students and the fun, engaging curriculum offered. Gini is our new Hall and leadership release teacher on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Gini was previously a Prep teacher at Flemington Primary School before taking leave to have her son Arlo who is now eighteen months old.  Prior to working at Flemington Primary, Gini worked as a musician (an accomplished violinist) and in Community Arts in Scotland for ten years.

Gini enjoys playing music, gardening, travelling and illustrating/drawing.  Gini works in various classrooms on Wednesdays and is the HALL teacher each Thursday when Mandy is team teaching PE with Bree.
We welcome Gini to MPW.

The Book Swap

The Book Swap was an overwhelming success raising $1465.65.

A big thank you to the school community, your book donations and gold coin donations far exceeded our expectations.

We did have books left over and these books were distributed to the classroom libraries.

A box of books were deliever Tweedle Child & Family Health Service and another to the Childcare Centre in Darling Street.

The remainder of books will be taken to the local charity shop.

Threatened and Endangered Animals Inquiry

This week all grade 2/ 3 students presented their Home Task to their class. The students were asked to answer the following questions with the help of their families/ carers on a threatened or endangered animal of their choice.

  • Are humans doing anything to help your animal?
  • How are they helping?

The purpose of this exercise was to provide students with a formal speaking and listening opportunity and for preparation of their research project that they will complete by the end of the term. Here are some of the presentations by Room 7.

MPW Green Team

On Tuesday 22nd August, 14 of the grade 5/6 MVIMP students attended the MVIMP Music Camp. The camp was held at Lady Northcote Camp in Bacchus Marsh. This camp  combined the three other schools within the Moonee Valley network.

Each day the students had multiple band rehearsals and tutorial sessions where they focused on learning a new song for the camp concert. Families were invited to attend the concert on Thursday 24th August to showcase the wonderful music the students had been learning. Whilst at camp there was also some free time, a games night, disco, camp songs and music trivia. They also learnt a new game, Gaga Ball!

It was a fantastic camp and a big thank you to all of the students who attended and the tutors who attended the camp!

Lost Property

In 2016 - 40kg of unnamed clothing and

30 items of unnamed plastic containers were donated to charity each month.

Our lost property is managed by parent volunteers and we need your help to reduce this huge workload and loss of property.

You can help by:

  • ensuring all belongings are clearly marked with student's names and room numbers
  • regularly check (and encourage your child/ren to check) for their lost property
  • remember it is the responsibility of students and families to regularly check lost property and reclaim items

When is unnamed lost property cleared and donated to charity?

  • Last Friday of every month

Where is lost property?

In the causeway at the entry to room 7 and 8 (near the toilet block off the little adventure playground).
