One week to go! My, hasn’t that come around quickly.

As Semester 1 comes to an end we get to celebrate the hard work, effort and learning of each of our students. Inquiry learning expos were quite remarkable this week with Year 7 students sharing their responses to the question “Who am I?”, while Year 9 displayed a range of installations reflecting the links between the Arts and the Sciences.  I was intrigued and encouraged by the complex questions that were explored and shared in the responses by students as they articulated their learning to the community.

Reports will be available on Sentral on Monday and you are encouraged to book a Parent Teacher Interview time to discuss the next step for your students learning.

Keep warm and enjoy time with your family.

Year 9 Transition

As our Year 9's continue through their last year at The Lakes, enrolment should now have occurred in a new setting for Year 10 2019. Please remember that in order to enrol in a new school, you must provide a copy of your child’s birth certificate.  Enrolment packs can be collected from the school your child will be attending.

Enrolment with Mill Park Secondary College for Year 10 2019 must occur prior to this evening in order to obtain a subject selection enrolment code.

If you have any queries regarding Year 9 to 10 transition, please do not hesitate to contact me on our Middle Years Campus.

Online Gaming, Apps and Social Media

It has come to our attention that many of our students are participating in online gaming and using apps and social media that are not age apropriate. We are concerned about the content of these games and the ways these apps are being used. Many of you may be unaware of the dangers to which children are exposed when accessing these games.

Primary ages children should not be accessing these at all but if you choose to allow it they need to be carefully supervised. Here are some that have come to our attention:

Library News

Both the EY and MY libraries will be closed before and after school for the last week of term. Books can still be returned to both libraries.

We have a lot of exciting things happening in term 3, including Book Week and Scholastic Book Fair!

Happy reading!
